👋Meet Brandon Boehme👋

One of Fort Worth Young Life’s biggest champions!!!

Camp isn’t just for students… adults can have the best week of their lives too!

Brandon and his wife, Cindy, served as Adult Guest Hosts at Crooked Creek Ranch earlier this summer, and they jumped ALL IN. From “officiating” the volleyball tournament to embracing the camp’s Christmas theme, they experienced firsthand why Young Life camp is such a special place.

The best part? They loved it so much that they’re already hoping to come back next summer and they want to bring more friends along!

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to experience Young Life camp as an adult, we’d love to tell you more. Trust us…it’s a week filled with laughter, incredible people, unforgettable memories, and seeing God at work in amazing ways.

👋Meet Houston & Chris👋

“My name is Houston Hartung, and I’ll be a senior at Paschal High School next year. I recently had the incredible opportunity to publicly share my faith through baptism. While I’ve always grown up around Christianity, my Young Life leader helped inspire me to pursue a deeper relationship with God and has been an incredible example in my life. I wanted Chris to baptize me because he has consistently been there for me through both the highs and lows. I’m so grateful for the role he has played in helping me take this next step in my faith.”

“Hey, my name is Chris McGehee, and I’m a Young Life leader at Paschal High School. Getting to walk alongside these guys has been such a blessing. I met Houston about a year ago at one of our first Campaigners, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of watching God work in his life, soften his heart, and ultimately lead him to a relationship with Christ. When Houston asked me to baptize him, I felt incredibly honored. Seeing the Lord move in Houston’s life and in the lives of so many of our Young Life guys over the past year has been such a gift, and I can’t wait to see what He continues to do.”

Watching our teenage friends truly understand what it means to follow Jesus and then choose to take the next step of going public with their faith, with all of their friends there to celebrate alongside them, is one of the greatest joys. There’s just nothing better than that.

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened 🥲 (even though we will for sure still be crying)

If you didn’t know, our very own Jasmine Smith, who has spearheaded YL ministry at Northside for the last half decade, is moving up to Chicago with her husband Jeremiah and their sweet baby girl Indigo!

Jasmine and her family have served so faithfully here for so long and we are obviously so bummed to see them go but also so excited for this new chapter the Lord is calling them into!

They are moving very soon so now is the time to give them all the best wishes, pray for their next chapter, and leave all the baked goods on their doorstep to try to convince them to stay 😅

Jas & Jeremiah we love you so! Thank you for being so faithful to the Lord’s call here. Well done good and faithful servants!

⭐️5 Years of Paschal YL⭐️

In 2021, I didn’t know a soul at Paschal. But the Lord orchestrated something through relationships with eight freshman guys: Hank, Austin, Asher, Scott, Eric, Hedges, Jace, and Tex. For the record, I’m not sure how excited they were to be there. They couldn’t drive yet, and their parents dropped them off.

At the time, Paschal had no club, no Campaigners, not much of anything going on. Just a few relationships with some freshmen.

Fast forward five years. I’m sitting in the back of club, nearly choking up at the scene in front of me: a courtyard full of students hearing about Jesus from a senior named Emerson, who was just a middle schooler back in 2021. She’s sharing how her relationship with God has grown over the last four years through her leader, through club and Campaigners, through camp trips and Work Crew.

As she talks about Jesus, her time in Young Life, and what’s next, her peers are hanging on every word including the rising freshmen thinking, “That could be me one day.”

This beautiful five-year picture of ministry bearing fruit didn’t start at a Whataburger table. It started years before that, when people began praying for kids in Fort Worth.

Let’s celebrate these moments and keep praying for our kids because it matters.

P.S. I’m also including a picture from my very first Paschal Young Life moment (last picture) which was really just me and three senior guys heading to a Rangers game after all the freshman Whataburger guys bailed on me that night. Shoutout to the real ones: Connor, Zeke, and Ryan. To be fair, the freshmen hadn’t met me yet.

Melani Skinner 🤝🏼 FW Capernaum YL

Meet Melani Skinner, FWYL’s new part-time Capernaum staff!

“I grew up on Young Life fun and have experienced firsthand what happens when friends spend time together with Jesus. Life to the FULL!

I was first introduced to Young Life in a small Fort Worth church in the 1980s, led by young people whose lives had been forever changed by the ministry of Young Life. Family friendships were formed on the foundation of the Gospel, and the results continue today: astonishment and awe. The kind you read about in Luke 5:26. That is for ALL people.

For the past 30 years, I worked as a school nurse in Fort Worth ISD until retiring in December. Now, the Lord has opened the door for me to join Young Life part-time and help bring Capernaum to Fort Worth.

I am so excited to be here!”

Capernaum is finally coming to Fort Worth! Capernaum is Young Life for teenagers with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we have been praying for this ministry for a long time. We are so thankful the Lord brought Melani to help make it happen!

🍴YL College Secret Supper 🍴

YL College hosted its third Secret Supper this Saturday night, and it was absolutely incredible.

This time, guests gathered at the Texas Academy of Figurative Arts for an unforgettable evening featuring a beautiful meal prepared by Chef Margaret Alvis (as seen on Food Network’s Chopped).

Secret Supper is a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Guests sign up knowing only the date and time. Then, 24 hours before, the location is revealed. And once seated, the chef and menu are finally unveiled. The mystery adds a sense of anticipation that makes the night even more special.

As the evening came to a close, guests were introduced to Young Life at TCU and the heart behind what we do.

One guest, Tom Wilson, shared it best: “It was a SUPER Supper! A magical evening highlighting the best of Young Life leadership. Jim Rayburn, the founder of Young Life, emphasized: ‘Serve with excellence, because we represent the King of Kings.’ And that happened on all levels!”
