CFW: West Nile POSITIVE Sample ( Council District 7)
We were informed by Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) that there has been a confirmed West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito sample collected from a testing site near you in the City of Fort Worth.
A positive sample was collected in your area near Trap Site # 40, 8505 Lake Country Dr, Fort Worth TX 76179.
Itโs extremely important that our community continue to work together to reduce the mosquito population by removing mosquito habitats from their property and reminding their neighbors to do the same.
The most effective means of protection, even more than spraying, is to stay focused on the reduction of the mosquito population:
โข Please remove all standing water in empty flowerpots, pet bowls, outdoor toys, gutters, etc.
โข Maintain your swimming pool.
โข When youโre outdoors, remember to wear repellent that contains DEET.
โข Limit outdoor activities from dusk to dawn and wear long sleeves and pants when applicable.
IMPORTANT UPDATES
Continued vigilance when it comes to preventing the spread of mosquito viruses in our community is essential.
โข Since there have been West Nile Virus positive mosquitoes in your neighborhood, the Cityโs Environmental Services Department officers will be monitoring the area looking for standing water, litter and debris that could invite mosquitoes to breed and nest.
โข You can help by keeping your grass mowed, gutters cleaned, trees trimmed, and dried leaves raked.
If thereโs an issue with standing water at a location that is not city property, report it to the Cityโs Customer Care Center at 817-392-1234.
