💙 Community Partner Spotlight: MHMR Tarrant 💙

We’re proud to recognize MHMR Tarrant as one of our community partners for Walk For Lives – Fort Worth.

Recovery, mental health, and hope are all part of the conversation when it comes to preventing substance use disorder and saving lives. MHMR Tarrant provides critical services, support, and resources to individuals and families throughout our community every day.

We’re grateful they’ll be joining us on July 11 to connect attendees with life-changing resources and remind everyone that healing is possible and no one has to walk this journey alone.

In just ONE WEEK, our community will come together for Walk For Lives – Fort Worth, and we’d love to have you join our volunteer team.

You don’t need any special experience—just a heart to serve or if you need community service hours we can sign off for it.

Volunteers are needed to help with:
💚 Registration & Check-In
💚 Greeting Participants
💚 Vendor & Resource Area
💚 Memorial Displays
💚 Set-Up & Take-down/ Clean-Up
💚 Encouraging and supporting families throughout the morning

Whether you can help for an hour or stay for the entire event, your time will make a difference.

Every smile, every conversation, and every helping hand helps create a meaningful experience for families who have been impacted by fentanyl poisoning.

Today is National Bereaved Parents Day.

Today, we honor every mother and father whose child is no longer here. We remember every life, every story, and every family carrying unimaginable loss.

Walk For Lives was created because no family should have to walk this journey alone. Every step we take is in memory of those we love and in hope that together we can prevent another family from experiencing this kind of loss.

To every bereaved parent in our community—we see you, we remember with you, and we walk beside you.

Today, we also want to thank the families, volunteers, community partners, sponsors, and advocates who are standing with us. Because of your support, we are building a community where grief is met with compassion, hope, and action.

Today we’re honored to recognize The The Thomas Effect as a Community Partner for Walk For Lives – Fort Worth.

The Thomas Effect was founded from love, loss, and a commitment to ensuring that no other family has to face this journey alone. Through education, advocacy, prevention, and community outreach, they continue making a difference across North Texas.

We’re especially grateful for Rachel Phillips, Michelle Jones Longoria, Lauren Waters, Zach Abrego and the entire Thomas Effect & Enabling Life team for the countless hours they’ve dedicated to helping make Walk For Lives Fort Worth possible. From planning and logistics to community outreach and supporting families, they’ve been there every step of the way.

This is exactly why community collaboration matters. Many of our own members are in this documentary and feel honored to be apart of it.

Next week matters.

This documentary is different.

Dancing With Death is moving away from the old 70s/80s narrative that’s played at schools and into the reality of now—real families, real stories, and what fentanyl is doing to our communities today.

I’m honored (and honestly emotional) to be one of the local parents featured, sharing Kyle’s story (Kyle Still Speaks) and the work I’ve been part of here in North Texas alongside the Recovery Resource Council .

This isn’t just a film.
It’s prevention.
It’s awareness.
It’s faces behind the statistics.

If sharing our story helps even one family ask a different question, have a harder conversation, or pause before taking a risk—then it matters.
