Meet LUCY DILLON

On July 4, 2025 while attending a Texas youth camp, eight-year-old Lucy Dillon tragically lost her life. Bright beyond her years, Lucy brought immeasurable joy to her parents, Brandt and Lisa, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. A strong leader, determined to be successful, she embraced every challenge and never quit no matter how difficult the challenge was. A fierce competitor and brilliant student, she excelled both in athletics and academics. She was a friend to all, had a gift for compassion, lifted up others during failures and routinely cheered for the underdog. We will miss her dearly and are determined to make sure her Light continues to Shine Bright in our lives and the lives of the people her fund touches.

The Bright Like Lucy Fund exists to help other children explore their dreams, take on new challenges and believe in themselves, whether in the classroom, on the court, or out in the world. Inspired by Lucy’s love of learning, her fearless spirit, and her infectious smile, we aim to keep her light shining by opening doors for other kids to dream big, play hard, and live brightly.

Since their tragic loss, the families have received many corgi-themed items as tokens of remembrance and have wished to donate to NTXCC’s initiatives in Rescue, Rehab, and Rehome. They will match every dollar raised up to $5,000 during the celebration of International Corgi Day that was June 4, 2026.

Meet MARY BARRETT STEVENS

Mary Barrett Stevens from Austin, Texas was the beloved daughter of Stacy and Johnny Stevens and extraordinary big sister to her brother Graham and sister Lilly. She was a radiant light in the world who lived life with enthusiasm, curiosity, compassion, confidence, and the purest joy. There was a magnetic energy about her that drew people in. She was a natural leader, someone others instinctively wanted to be near.

In her eight wonderful years, Mary Barret was a child who lived life to the fullest. She wanted to participate in every activity and attend every event; time held no bounds. She loved everything from art to basketball, dance to skiing, and all that could be found in between, including CORGIS. She was the most unique child and wise beyond her years. She was bold, brave, stubborn and creative. She loved playing Rummikub and cards with her family, dancing with friends, and exploring all that God’s Earth had to offer.

Guided by her bright and inclusive spirit, the Live Like MB Foundation was created to honor her enduring legacy and is dedicated to creating meaningful impact by supporting youth-focused programs that allow kids to grow, explore, and thrive, while also advancing animal welfare initiatives that reflect Mary’s compassion for all living beings. Through these efforts, they strive to carry her light forward—fostering hope, inspiring generosity, and creating positive, lasting change within communities.

Since their tragic loss, the families have received many corgi-themed items as tokens of remembrance and have wished to donate to NTXCC’s initiatives in rescue, rehab, and rehome. They will match every dollar raised up to $5,000 during the celebration of International Corgi Day on June 4, 2026.

GIVE LIKE MARY BARRETT AND LUCY

On July 4, 2025, Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, suffered devastating flash floods of the Guadalupe River in the Texas Hill Country. The disaster claimed the lives of 25 campers (aged 8–10) and two counselors. Among the victims were two obsessed corgi lovers and extraordinary young girls named Mary Barrett Stevens and Lucy Dillon.

Live Like MB and Bright Like Lucy have graciously offered a matched fundraising campaign for North Texas Corgi Connection in loving memory of their sweet daughters.

COURTESY POST

MEET HANK! He is a sweet, playful 5-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who needs an experienced home familiar with strong herding instincts and inflammatory bowel disease. This post is being shared to find Hank a home better suited to his needs.

Hank has inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), confirmed by a scope in 2024. His condition is well managed with a very low-dose daily steroid and a hydrolyzed-protein diet, but IBD significantly amplifies his stress responses and herding behaviors. Because of this, Hank is not a beginner dog and will be placed only with adopters knowledgeable about IBD in corgis and experienced with strong herding-dog personalities.

Behaviorally, Hank is not aggressive and has never bitten anyone, but he is bossy, intense, and highly sensitive to movement and energy. He struggles most when people hug, greet one another, or move quickly—he will attempt to insert himself and may nip as a herding response. Hank loves people, but his instincts take over in these moments, which is why he would do best in a calm household with one or two adults, no children, and predictable routines.

Hank needs:

A confident, authoritative handler familiar with herding breeds

Open land or a large outdoor space where he can run, roam, and release energy with his person and other dogs

Active, confident dog companions who enjoy play and can match his energy

A home where his medical and behavioral needs are understood and respected

Support for mild separation anxiety — Hank is people-oriented and does best when included in daily life

While Hank receives daily walks, play, and enrichment, it has become clear that this is not enough for him—the goal is to find a home where he can truly thrive. An owner who enjoys activities such as outdoor adventuring, agility, nosework, and barn hunting with their dog would love Hank.

Please only inquire if you have experience with IBD dogs and strong herding behaviors. Medical records will be provided, and I am committed to ensuring the best possible match for Hank. If you believe your home is the right fit, please contact Hailey Sedwick via Facebook Messenger for more details, or email NTXCC at [email protected] if there is an issue connecting with Hailey. (Located in Oklahoma)

Let's give Hank a home!!
