North Texas Giving Day Early Giving opens August 27, and this year, we’re asking our community to help us make room for one more.

Meet Nevaeh Ochoa, one of our Life Skills Enrichment Specialist (LSES)! 💙

Nevaeh is passionate about helping residents discover their strengths, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future. Through encouragement, compassion, and genuine connection, she works to ensure every person she serves feels seen, respected, and supported.

💬 "I hope to leave every person I work with feeling seen, respected, and hopeful. My goal is to help people recognize their strengths and believe in their ability to create the life they deserve."

When asked why she chose this line of work, Nevaeh shared that she has always had a heart for helping others. Seeing individuals grow, heal, and regain confidence is what inspires her every day.

Supportive housing combines affordable housing with individualized services that help people overcome barriers, maintain stable housing, and work toward greater independence.

At Samaritan House, our supportive housing programs connect residents with resources such as:

While some of our programs focus on providing affordable housing, our supportive housing programs go a step further by pairing housing with the services many individuals need to build lasting stability.

Meet Eliza, our SRO Case Manager! Every day, she works alongside residents to connect them with resources, provide encouragement, and help them build a path toward greater stability and independence. Her compassion and dedication make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

When asked what motivates her, Eliza shared:

"I'm motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's life. I enjoy connecting people with resources, support, and opportunities that help them overcome difficult circumstances and move toward stability and independence. Seeing someone make progress, no matter how small, is what makes this work rewarding for me."

Did you know one of the simplest ways to make someone feel welcomed is by offering a small comfort—sometimes even a piece of chocolate?

At Samaritan House, we know that healing starts with more than housing. It starts with feeling seen, cared for, and valued. Small gestures of kindness, whether it's sharing a sweet treat, offering a warm meal, or simply listening, can remind someone they matter.

This World Chocolate Day, we encourage you to spread a little kindness. Buy a coworker their favorite candy bar, surprise a neighbor with a treat, or thank someone who's made a difference in your life.
