Honoring the Heroes of Normandy: 82 Years Later

​Today, June 6th, VFW Post 10374 pauses to remember and honor the incredible bravery of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago today.

​On this morning in 1944, Operation Overlord commenced. More than 150,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen ran into the teeth of enemy fire, Scaling cliffs, wading through heavy surf, and dropping behind enemy lines in the largest amphibious invasion in history. It was a defining turning point in World War II, bought at an unimaginable cost.
​The freedom we enjoy today was paved by the grit, resolve, and ultimate sacrifice of those ordinary individuals who did extraordinary things in the face of absolute chaos.

​To our Greatest Generation—those who left everything on those beaches and those who carried the memories home—we owe a debt that can never fully be repaid. We promise to keep your stories alive and uphold the legacy of freedom you fought so hard to protect.

​To all our veterans and community members, we invite you to take a moment today to reflect on their sacrifice.

​Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
​We will never forget. 🇺🇸
