We’re so grateful to have had a place to call home for our goalball practices this year. 🧡🥅
A huge thank you to the Bradfield Recreation Center and Garland Parks and Recreation for welcoming Metro Blaze, giving our athletes support and a place to practice. We’re thankful for everyone who helped make those practices possible.
We’re sad to see this chapter come to an end, but we’re so grateful that Metro Blaze was able to be a small part of this community.
Thank you for supporting our athletes and helping us keep goalball going. We’ll always appreciate the time we spent here. 🥅
After more than two months of deliberation, discussion and public input, the Garland City Council voted Aug. 17 to close Bradfield Recreation Center and Pool as part of the City’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget. Bradfield Recreation Center’s final day of operation will be the end of the current fiscal year, Wednesday, Sept. 30. The 2026 pool season at Bradfield and Holford Aquatic Center ended Aug. 9.
For many Garland residents, Bradfield is much more than a building or a pool. Since opening in 1975, it has been a place where children learned to swim, families gathered, neighbors met and generations of residents participated in camps, classes and recreation programs.
City leaders recognize that history, and the decision to close the facilities was not made lightly. Learn more at https://www.garlandtx.gov/m/NewsFlash/Home/Detail/3827
