✨ Sunday Spotlight

Last night, 43 people gathered in historic Wedgwood to listen to one pianist sit down at one piano and make some incredible music.

That may not sound like a massive crowd.

But a year ago, we sold around 15 tickets to this recital. This year, when we looked around the room, there were 43 people sitting in the audience.

That’s growth.

Not the flashy, overnight kind. The kind where a few more people discover you. A few more decide to come back. Someone brings a friend. Someone shares a post. Someone who has never been to a classical piano recital decides, “Why not?”

And slowly, an audience becomes a community.

That’s what excites us about what’s happening at Wedgwood Arts.

We’re not trying to become something enormous overnight. We’re trying to build something meaningful, one concert, one production, one artist, and one audience at a time.

Last night was another little step forward.

And now, on to the next one.

On Saturday, September 12 at 6:00 PM, things get considerably less civilized with our Murder Mystery Dinner.

Come eat dinner, solve a murder, and spend an evening with us in historic Wedgwood. Hopefully the only thing being murdered is someone’s dignity.

We’ll see you September 12!

🎹 Apparently we don’t know how to have a normal Saturday at Wedgwood Arts.

We’re starting this morning with a rehearsal of Michael John Trotta’s Requiem, and tonight we’re turning the building over to an incredible pianist.

Dr. Jin Ah Kwon performs TONIGHT!

We’ve spent the last few weeks introducing you to the composers on her program: Mozart, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Joplin. Tonight, we finally get to hear what Jin Ah does with their music.

And you absolutely do not need to be a classical music person to come. You don’t need to know the pieces. You don’t need to know when to clap. You don’t even need to know what an Opus number is.

Just show up and experience some incredible music.

📅 Tonight, August 22 at 7:00 PM

Come spend your Saturday night with us!

🎹 Okay, y’all. It’s finally here.

For the past several weeks, we’ve introduced you to Mozart, met the ultimate introvert Chopin, talked about the incredible story of Scott Joplin, and marveled at the ridiculously talented young Mendelssohn.

Tomorrow, we finally get to hear the music.

Dr. Jin Ah Kwon takes the stage tomorrow evening for a program featuring Mozart, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Joplin.

And if you’ve never been to a classical piano recital before, this is a great one to start with. You don’t need to know what a rondo is. You don’t need to know your Op. 10 from your Op. 64. You don’t even have to pretend you understand why classical musicians keep putting random numbers after everything.

Just come listen.

Great music. An extraordinary pianist. Right here in historic Wedgwood.

Tomorrow. August 22.

🤝 Team Tuesday

It really only took us five years, but Wedgwood Arts officially has officers! 😂

We recently elected our first slate of officers, and we’re excited to introduce the team helping lead us into whatever crazy thing we decide to do next.

President: Adam Frame
Vice President: Darla Robinson
Secretary: Brie Carlson
Treasurer: Laura Badgett

Our officers also officially appointed Adam Frame to serve as Artistic Director, continuing to lead the artistic vision and programming of Wedgwood Arts.

This is a pretty exciting step for an organization that started with some big ideas, a lot of “what if we tried this?” conversations, and people willing to jump in and figure things out along the way.

Now we have an official leadership team charged with helping turn those ideas into something sustainable for the long haul.

There’s a lot ahead of us, and we’re excited to get to work.

✨ Sunday Spotlight

Tonight, we just want to say one great big ol’ THANK YOU!

Over the past few weeks, more than 40 donors helped us raise $2,268.65 for Wedgwood Arts!

Seriously. More than 40 people chose to put their own money behind this crazy little thing we’re building in historic Wedgwood. That means an incredible amount to us.

And that’s just this fundraiser. We’ve also been incredibly fortunate to receive additional donations and support outside of the campaign, and we don’t take any of it for granted.

Whether you donated, shared the fundraiser with your friends, or simply kept cheering us on along the way, you were part of making this happen.

This money will go directly toward creating theater, music, opportunities for local artists, and experiences that bring people together right here in our community.

We talk a lot about wanting Wedgwood Arts to become something that truly belongs to this community. Well, this community just showed up for us.

So tonight’s Sunday Spotlight belongs to YOU.

Thank you for believing in this crazy little thing we’re building in Wedgwood. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us, and we cannot wait to show you what you helped make possible.
