Today was one of the more serious days here on the farm, as our interns learned about food insecurity and hunger impacting our community and and the globe.
Our work at FunkyTown has a purpose. It encourages youth to take action to fight food apartheid in their communities and beyond.

Phone Jail... an important rite of passage for our FunkyTown Seed Crew! Putting away phones for 6 hours a day not only helps decrease our overall screen time, but fosters a place where human to human connection has no barriers. Free of distractions, our interns can focus on learning and forming bonds with the peers they will soon call family.

Rain or shine, our interns are out working hard!
Today is the first official day of our summer 2026 program. This morning, our interns received a farm tour from Cort DeHart, the owner of Conundrum Farms where our program is located. Then, after receiving guidance from our peer leaders, the interns harvested tomatoes, w**ded, and pruned okra. In the afternoon, each intern shared their “Most Important Word,” building a space of vulnerability and support. Scroll to see what each intern said!

It’s Leader Week at FunkyTown Food Project! Eight youth interns - 3 Crew Leaders, 3 Assistant Crew Leaders, and 2 Program Associates - have returned to the farm to prepare for our 5th year of summer programming. They kicked off this Wednesday day by soaking up some vitamin D in the cool morning breeze while the clouds raced across the sky. A perfect way to intentionally let go of whatever was holding on to them and welcome the new day.

A big shout out to these four ladies from More Group. A small but mighty team, they helped us w**d the entire patch of cantaloupe, ensuring that unwanted vegetation doesn’t steal nutrients and water from from the newly flowering cantaloupe plants, and making more room for the vines to spread and grow. We enjoyed some great tunes and shared plenty of laughs along the way. Win win!
