We're creating a report on the needs, wants, and nice-to-haves for the Fort Worth Community Arts Center from the arts community.

If you have any prior experience with the space, we need your feedback to make sure that this report is comprehensive, inclusive, and actionable.

Whether your perspective is as an individual artist whose art has been exhibited, an arts professional who knows the theatre inside and out, a dedicated volunteer who knows the necessity of this great community space, or just someone who enjoyed seeing world class art from local artists, we want to hear from you.

This is not how I wanted to return to writing, after more than a year back in Fort Worth, but the death of Carol Ivey brings me back to my desk to pen this memorial for one of Fort Worth’s finest. It started with a text from Weekly Editor-in-Chief Anthony Mariani after learning Carol had died…

At Tuesday's city council worksession, the director of Fort Worth's library department, Midori Clark, gave a presentation about how 8 libraries and 20 community centers could dedicate wall space for 2D visual art.

While this in no way replaces the need for the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, and still leaves out many other art forms, it is a big step towards creating more art spaces throughout the entire city.

Excited to see the City acknowledge the need for everyone to have access to the arts, and the key role that the City plays in making that possible.

More than 1,200 feet of wall space across 28 city libraries and community centers could be used for art exhibitions, officials said.

Did you know that The Welman Project not only supports teachers, but also artists & non-profits as well?

They do incredible work, and are such an invaluable resource for Fort Worth. Please donate to them if you can, and keep an eye out for their amazing new space this year!

What started as an attempt to curb waste has since turned into a nonprofit supporting Fort Worth educators.

This is unfortunate news, but only confirms what we have suspected. It has been well over a year since city leadership has given any real update on the future of the building. They seem to be forgetting how urgent the situtation is and how vital the building is as a resource for the entire city.

This doesn't stop or even slow down our plans to restore the building. In fact, we hope it galvanizes you into joining the movement. The more we work together to bring back the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, the quicker we can see it not only return to what it once was, but also create something greater.

City staffers want to complete an internal review before they share a timeline of what may be next for the 71-year-old arts building.

It's important that we remind the Fort Worth City Council about how vital the Community Arts Center is as the foundation of our entire arts ecosystem. We can't let the building continue to sit empty. We need an update about the future of the Community Arts Center, and we need a plan for it that centers the arts community.

This first meeting about the future of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center was a success. We came up with lots of good ideas for how we can make a difference, and ways people can help.

We'll host more meetings to get input from the community about what we need & want for the Community Arts Center, and how to make it happen.

Stay tuned for updates about meetings and ways to get involved.

It has been over a year since we've gotten an update from the City of Fort Worth about the future of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

The longer we wait, the more expensive it will be to repair, and the longer it will take to fix the damage to Fort Worth's arts ecosystem in the building's absence.

The Fort Worth Community Arts Center is a vital resource for the entire city. It has been a hub of creativity & opportunity for decades. It has provided a platform to uplift & empower local artists. If we want Fort Worth to be a world class city, we must support local art.

The city’s property management department didn’t move forward with the proposal due to questions about the building’s condition, officials say.
