More on Fernando:

Originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Alvarez moved to North Texas in 2006. Shortly after moving to the United States, he began his artistic practice, receiving his BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of North Texas in 2014, and an MFA in Studio Art from Texas Christian University in 2022. His concept driven work uses his displacement from Honduras to discuss broader themes like paranoia, culture, and class; often using a humorous or flippant attitude at his own expense. Through an interdisciplinary practice, Alvarez examines the eccentricities of his background to better understand himself and the subcultures he navigates.

Alvarez is an Assistant Curator of Education at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. He is also a co-founder of Easyside, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art space providing career resources for artists, and food access in East Fort Worth.

More info on Maria:

Maria Barrientos is a Fort Worth–based artist and educator working across photography, time-based media, and installation. Her practice explores memory, temporality, and the reconstruction of fleeting experiences through material processes. Often beginning with digital snapshots, Barrientos translates images into analog forms such as cyanotypes and gum prints, transforming ephemeral moments into tactile objects that resist disappearance.

Her work navigates themes of liminality, nostalgia, and perception, inviting viewers to consider how images shape and distort personal and collective memory. In addition to her studio practice, Barrientos is an arts educator who develops inquiry-driven learning experiences that connect contemporary art to everyday life.
