Wood Badge Wednesday Staff Spotlight โ Wood Badge at Philmont Scout Ranch
The leadership team for Wood Badge Course 662-26-2 is preparing to bring you an incredible course at the iconic Rayado Ridge Learning Center and Abreu Camp at Philmont Scout Ranch, and weโre excited to begin introducing the incredible volunteers who will help lead this national course hosted by Longhorn Council.
Course Director Corey Ferguson has assembled an outstanding team of Scouting America volunteers who have spent the past 10 months preparing to deliver an unforgettable Wood Badge experience. These leaders are dedicating their time and energy because they believe deeply in the impact of Wood Badge and the power of strong leadership in Scouting.
Join the experience. Become a better leader. Strengthen your unit.
The purpose of Wood Badge is to develop skilled leaders who can strengthen Scouting units in achieving the mission of Scouting America. When we accomplish the mission of Scouting, we do it in the units. Simply put, the purpose of Wood Badge is to strengthen units.
Although the course has evolved over the years, the vision that began with Baden-Powell in 1919 still rings true today:
"One of the purposes of Wood Badge training is to get Scouters to think about the practice of Scouting, to meet together, to exchange experiences, and to live together in the spirit of the Scout Oath."
Today, we are proud to introduce one of the dedicated leaders who will help bring that vision to life.
