Wedgwood Historical Association

WHA is NOT a neighborhood association or homeowners' association. A unique and wonderful aspect of Wedgwood is its diversity in ranch house styles.

Collecting information on the houses and history of Wedgwood, a neighborhood in southwest Fort Worth, and providing education on the historical value of Wedgwood homes. MISSION:

The Wedgwood Historical Association (WHA) is a nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status founded in March 2021 whose mission is to:

Promote awareness of and appreciation for the architecture and design of houses in the Wedgwood neighborhood;

Encourage home maintenance, renovations and rehabilitation that respect the historic home’s original character and style; and

Collect and record information and documents of historical significance pertaining to Wedgwood and its development. For our purposes, the physical boundaries of Wedgwood are those of the neighborhood associations. There are some houses in Wedgwood East that are listed as being in the South Hills addition on property information but are generally referred to as being part of Wedgwood. INCLUSIVITY STATEMENT:
While the Wedgwood Historical Association wishes to celebrate the architecture and design of the houses of Wedgwood and to gather information and memories about the neighborhood’s history, we fully recognize that Wedgwood has not always been welcoming or accepting of non-white or non-Christian families. The “happier life” promised by the developers of Wedgwood in 1955 was not initially available to all residents of Fort Worth, and not everyone’s memories and experiences of this time will be pleasant. WHA hopes that our endeavors will acknowledge the similar diversity of the neighborhood’s current population and help to foster a community that truly welcomes and appreciates ALL of our residents.

✨ Fantastic luncheon hosted by Fidelity Investments and The Fort Worth Chamber.

🪏Huge growth expected in the Southwest Fort Worth area with expectations of becoming the most densely populated section of the city.

📚A new higher education campus is coming with the new UT West Campus making extended education accessible to the residents of Southwest Fort Worth.

🎉 And pledges from supportive local leaders dedicated to historic and cultural preservation across district 9!

Stretch of cute 1970s apartment buildings on Cibolo Drive. Such variety of styles! These are in a section of Wedgwood (South) that doesn't get much attention, but there are many smaller, vaguely Spanish-style 1970s ranch houses here, in addition to a DPS office, a Tarrant County administrative building, a USPS branch, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, and Woodway Elementary School.

✨ We have wonderful news for Wedgwood! 🎉

The Wedgwood Historical Association has received a $20,000 grant from the Summerlee Foundation. This gift covers the remaining funds needed to pay for Wedgwood’s Historic District nomination on the National Register of Historic Places.

Founded in 1988, the Dallas based Summerlee Foundation supports the preservation of Texas history, including research, documentation, and preservation projects across the state. We are honored that the foundation has chosen to support Wedgwood’s story.

Because of this generous gift, we can move the nomination forward. If listed, Wedgwood will become the largest midcentury historic district in the country—an extraordinary recognition for the neighborhood and the people who have shaped it.

✨ Hey, Wedgwood 👋🏼

🎉 Help us welcome our newest Board Member, Rob Forsgren! We’re so excited to have Rob on our team!

Rob was born in California and spent his first 12 years in Compton/Paramount, California. After moving to Texas, he graduated from Euless Trinity High School. After graduation he moved to his first apartment on Hulen St in Fort Worth. After moving around a few times over the next 16 years, he settled in Wedgwood in 2006 after buying a nice "fixer upper" in Wedgwood Square.

Since 2004, Rob’s been running Crew Entertainment, specializing in venue DJ's and audio and lighting for weddings and events. Crew currently runs 5 shows a week at Yupps Karaoke Bar in Wedgwood. In 2008 he opened a local restaurant with two business partners in Sundance Square. After a successful 18-year run, the location closed in April of this year. In his spare time, he works full time for Nelnet as a Senior Integration Analyst connecting universities to our payment platforms for students.

Rob is a single father to two amazing kids. A 17-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter. Both kids have spent their entire lives right here in Wedgwood.

Rob is the former president of the Wedgwood Square Neighborhood Association, and a worship leader at Doxology Church on Hulen St.

We can’t express enough how excited we are to have Rob join our mission. His marketing and event planning expertise and dedication to Wedgwood are second to none. Big things coming our way, Historic Wedgwood

The 1950s marked the beginning of Mid-Century Modern as well as the Golden Age of Automobiles. Automobiles made subdivisions like Wedgwood possible and allowed Americans to explore America, traveling such iconic thoroughfares as U.S. Route 66.
