Cats Alive is a 501(c)(3) organization advocating the well-being of outdoor cats through a Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) program, including outreach and education within the community and providing assistance to caregivers.

Cats Alive spayed and neutered 556 cats in 12 months!

With the incredible grant support from Florida Animal Friend, our clinic partner Operation Catnip and many dedicated and loving caregivers, 556 cats from Columbia County were spayed-neutered and vaccinated during our recent grant period of August 16, 2024 - August 15, 2025.

This included 218 cats from Fort White and 338 cats from Lake City.

313 cats were female. This further multiplies our lifesaving efforts and decreases preventable deaths since no more kittens will be born to these females.

Included in the 556 cats were 41 cats from Columbia County, FL Animal Enforcement where they were able to assist citizens. Thank you CCAE!

During the grant period, an additional 520 Columbia County cats were spayed-neutered and vaccinated by Operation Catnip, bringing the total to 1076 for this 12 month period!

Thank you to each and every caregiver who helped reduce cat overpopulation and preventable cat deaths in Columbia County - you are a hero for cats!

Thanks to a grant from Florida Animal Friend, our friends at North Florida PAWS are offering FREE spay-neuter for cats and dogs of low income owners in Columbia, Suwannee, Madison and Hamilton Counties. Must show proof of one form of government assistance and pay $15 for rabies.

TNR cats have no income restrictions and rabies vaccine is included.

May utilize North Florida Animal Rescue which is conveniently located for Columbia and Suwannee counties.

* To allow greater flexibility in scheduling, we will not be transporting cats for you, you are responsible for obtaining approved traps and for transportation on dates that work best for you.

* Once your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to schedule.

* All surgeries will be performed at Operation Catnip in Gainesville.

Eartips are required for all cats and kittens - no exceptions!

* FVRCP vaccine

We are back!

Like so many in our area, we are still without power or internet, and only have spotty cell service.

Due to these circumstances, there is a delay in processing applications for our $10 spay-neuter program. Please be patient with us as we work through the backlog once power is restored.
