You know why our AI meetups sell out every month? It's because of the coffee and donuts. I'm serious. Not the tech, not the people. The coffee, and the donuts.

That's why I want to give a huge shout out to the Better Business Bureau and MapleTronics who come in clutch for us with these two necessities.

Hopefully I'll remember my printed sponsor signs Friday so I don't have to do another hand-drawn one like last month (lol!)

We have a completely packed house Friday, I'll see you then!

If you didn't get tickets for the in-person meetup you can join the wait list, or you can jump in virtually.

This Friday is our monthly AI in Fort Wayne meetup—join us in person or virtually. The in-person session is almost sold out, so grab a seat if you’re planning to attend (and please release yours if your plans have changed).

Here’s what’s lined up:
• 2 new partnership announcements
• 3 live demos
• A community conversation based on last month’s survey—where an overwhelming majority of people said that time is the biggest barrier to learning AI. We’ll dig into how real people are actually working through that.

📍 Indiana Tech – Keen Building, 3rd Floor

Also, a very important thank you to the real MVPs:
☕ Coffee from Better Business Bureau
🍩 Donuts from MapleTronics

See you Friday. RSVP links are in the comments—join the waitlist if we’re full.

Google for Education has just launched the inaugural Google Higher Ed Faculty AI Fellowship, and applications for the 2026 cohort are officially open!

If you are a university faculty member actively integrating AI into your teaching, research, or institutional strategy, this is your chance to move beyond the classroom and become a strategic change agent.

The fellowship will offer:
Global Networking: Join an exclusive community of academic pioneers to investigate the systemic impact of AI on higher education.

Institutional Transformation: Tackle a major "Impact Challenge" at your university—whether that is evolving assessment models, crafting responsible AI policies, or scaling personalized curriculum.

Leadership: Help set new global standards for responsible AI adoption in academia.

To apply, you'll need to propose your Impact Challenge, submit a brief "Portfolio of Innovation," record a 90-second video sharing your vision, and provide a letter of recommendation from your Dean or Program Chair.

Tag a professor or academic leader who needs to see this! 👇

Today’s Fort Wayne AI meetup was beautifully imperfect. We had such a big turnout that we had to get out the backup chairs.

When we moved the coat rack to get them, the bar fell off and every hanger slid to the floor… with all of the coats. 😅

And when I went to start picking them up a community member said, "let me do this you have more important things to worry about."

I had planned ahead and printed AND LAMINATED really nice thank you sponsor signs. In my morning flurry (I blame it on my husband's birthday) I forgot them. So I grabbed a sharpie marker and hand-drew my best apology and thank-you sign instead. I draw a pretty darn good maple leaf logo.

Josh Jeffrey’s demo didn’t work the way he intended on the laptop… so we talked about how it worked, and the idea behind it - and honestly, it might have been even better.

When Austin Luke was asked about the data and security behind the mind-bendingly great app he built, he smiled and said: “I don’t know… that’s why I’m here. To meet people that know that stuff.”

And when we reached the end with only 8 minutes left - and my 6-minute demo still sitting there - I made a choice to skip the demo.

Prioritize the community conversation. Give them the mic.

Because the connections in the room mattered more.

Every month our meetup reminds me of something so important and I know people are probably sick of hearing it, but maybe it actually can't be said too much.

This isn’t really about AI.

It’s about people who are willing to show up without all the answers.

People who are courageous enough to raise their hand and ask the 'dumb' questions. That 10 other people want to know but don't have the guts to ask.

To get in front of a hundred people and show them something that might not work, or might break.

People who are humble enough to learn in public.

And when you put those people in a room together… the chaos quiets, the anxiety lifts, and something better starts to emerge: hope. ✨

Thanks to Better Business Bureau and MapleTronics for sponsoring the coffee and snacks at our AI meetup this Friday! ☕🍪

Our events are so much better when people can grab a coffee, snack a little, and settle in for great conversations and demos. It might seem like a small thing, but it really does elevate the experience for everyone in the room.

Our community definitely appreciates it — and we’re grateful for organizations that help make these gatherings even better. 🙌

If you're interested in sponsoring, reach out to me at [email protected].

And if you haven't signed up for the event there's still a few seats left, RSVP here:
