St. Joseph Community Health Foundation Since 1998, the SJCHF has served the poor by funding and operating high-quality programming that improves health & wellness in Allen County.

Since 1998 when some of the assets from the sale of the St. Joseph Hospital were placed with the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation, the Foundation has primarily served the poor and underserved by funding high-quality programming that improves accessibility to health and wellness in Allen County, Indiana. In its first ten years, the Foundation invested $8,915,458 in the community through 584 grants to more than 150 local agencies. The grants improve access to health care in programs with established records of delivering quality health, medical, dental and mental health care to low-income clients.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Allen County Public Library for our info session on upcoming Indiana Medicaid (HIP) changes!

This event showcased the true strength of local collaboration. Special thanks to the Northeast Indiana Immigration Network, Burmese Health Collaborative, Amani Family Services, Catholic Charities FWSB, IU Health, International House, The Language Access Lab, for partnering with the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation and uniting to break language barriers, provide free interpretation, and support our local families.

We are proud to share that our Community Impact Director, Jackie Martinez, will be featured as a panelist at the upcoming IU Fort Wayne Voices for Health speaker series!

This event’s theme, Healthier Starts, Healthier Communities, focuses on maternal and child health. It aligns directly with our mission at the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation: ensuring every mother, child, and family in our community has access to quality health resources, care, and a strong foundation to thrive.

Know the new rules & do your best to follow them.

If your health coverage is affected, a new resource is a local Medicaid Task Force - service agencies working together to troubleshoot problems: adallencountymedicaid.com.

Calk 211 or (1-866-211-9966) to get help from service agencies in town before or after benefits are lost.

Please don’t give up fighting for what you need, change is hard but help is available…

The Immigration Network will be hosting an informational meeting on the upcoming Medicaid HIP Changes next Thursday, October 8 from 6-8pm. This free community information session will address specific concerns in the Burmese community, however, everyone is invited to attend to learn more and pick up resources. Interpretation will be available.

Latinos Count hosted its annual scholarship luncheon today at the Grand Wayne Center. Board Member Steve Coronal MC'd the event and Community Member Aaron Robles provided technical support. Wonderful to hear inspiring stories by students pursuing higher education around that state. Indiana's Secretary of Education, Dr. Katie Jenner gave an inspirational talk about faith, family, and purpose.

Congratulations to SJCHF's summer intern, Sofia Vasquez, for being a 2026 Latinos Count scholarship award winner.
