Wave to all motorcycles same passion. Same love.
The Biker Wave And It's Subsequent Corruption
By: Preach
Today when we get on our scoots and take to the highway or local haunt there is a very good chance that you will come across another biker or a man or woman on a bike. Back in the day it wasn't always like that. In fact bikes and bikers were more like rumors and when you did see one the people looking at them either said something like, "fu***ng criminals" or "man, that's just crazy."
So when a biker back in the day saw another biker they gave each other the wave because they knew the belonged to a small society of crazy, and somewhat criminal but good cats who just enjoyed riding motorcycles.
It was a show of solidarity amongst bikers in a world of cagers.
Unfortunately however that solidarity of bikers today has been fragmented because you have a few people who are more loyal to a brand that doesn't give a f**k about them then they are acknowledging another biker.
And all you guys know what and who I'm talking about.
Speaking in terms of generalities Harley riders do not wave to riders of other brands. I could assume as to why but I won't do that as I'm sure the people who leave comments on this post will do that just fine. But make no mistake, it's stupid because I promise you if you go down on your Harley Davidson motorcycle and can't go to work and you fall behind on your bike payments Harley will make sure your credit gets f**ked and your bike is repossessed. Meanwhile that man you passed on the Kawasaki could have been a good enough brother to help you get by during a rough patch not because he rides a Kawi but just because he's a fellow biker and he wants to see you stay on your scoot.
It is absolutely ridiculous that in a world where bikers are still targeted by LE and angry cagers that bikers add another layer of fragementation to ourselves.
The biker wave isn't just good biker manners but it's a decent thing to do when you see another rider. We are all in this together beyond the patches and bikes.
The only exception I can understand in terms of not waving is one club to another. I know certain outlaws who will not wave unless its to their own brother and that's fine and I know certain outlaws who will even if it's not their brother. Their call.
Understand where the biker wave came from and why. We as bikers today have no reason to abandon the idea that it's still us against the world and when we see another biker out there remember he's one of us.
You never know where your next brother could be coming from but it's a shame if you never find out because you were too concerned about what he was riding and not the fact that he was riding at all.
God bless.
