These projects represent meaningful investments in creating a more connected and welcoming region!

Applications reflected a shared commitment to strengthening neighborhoods, building cross-cultural connections, expanding accessible programming, and reducing isolation across our communities.

We recently celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating Youth Empowered Philanthropy (YEP) seniors!

Students, Community Foundation staff, family members, friends, local nonprofit leaders, and former YEP participants gathered to honor the students’ philanthropic journey and the difference they have made throughout the year.

Since its launch in 2020, YEP has had 76 students participate in the program representing 11 high schools throughout the community. Together, participants have awarded more than $63,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations serving Allen County!

The passion, leadership, and generosity demonstrated by these students continue to strengthen the future of our community and inspire the next generation of philanthropists.

The Professional Advisor Leadership Council (PALC) of the Community Foundation recently hosted its first Continuing Education event for professional advisors at WindSwell Foundation! The program brought together attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and philanthropic professionals for an engaging discussion on charitable planning strategies that help clients achieve both personal and philanthropic goals.

The session featured nationally recognized gift planning expert Pamela J. Davidson, J.D., who shared practical insights on estate planning, charitable giving techniques, tax planning, retirement assets, and ethics in charitable gift planning.

Through real-world examples and case studies, attendees explored ways charitable strategies can create meaningful impact while also supporting clients’ financial, tax, and legacy objectives. Davidson stressed to advisors, “Philanthropy is a learned behavior—and a planned gift can diversify a portfolio”.

The event marked an exciting milestone for PALC and reinforced the Community Foundation’s commitment to strengthening relationships with professional advisors and providing valuable educational opportunities for the community!

"I typically raise the topic of charitable giving with my clients because, in my experience, lack of generosity is rarely the problem — awareness of how to bring their generosity to life often is."
