It's a beautiful day to bring home your newest fur-ever friend! 🐾

Our adoption center is open today from 12-5:30 pm at 3020 Hillegas Rd. Adoptions are same day and we are walk-in only, so stop on over! You are able to meet adoptable pets after our adoption team reviews and approves your application while you are here.

We do not allow walk throughs (since 2020) in order to reduce the animals' fear, anxiety and stress. Seeing and being bothered by strangers all day can be quite stressful and does not allow them to rest - thank you for understanding! 💙

You can read about our adoption process and view all adoptable pets at the link provided in the comments below.

Like which name you like best! 🩷

Our educational animals help us teach compassion, responsibility, and safe animal handling to kids and families. They’re a vital part of our classroom visits and summer camps.

This adorable squish is Doug and he is patiently waiting to be adopted by his loving family ❤ Our kind friends and Barks and Mews Gala sponsor, Kelley Automotive Group, have taken care of his adoption fee!

Doug is about 5 years old and found his way to us because of a kind citizen who found him in her yard. It was clear he was previously owned by someone since he was already neutered and very human social. However, he did not have any ID on him so he went into our adoption program after his stray hold period.

We do not know about Doug's history, but we do know just how sweet, gentle and precious he is. If you have any pets at home, of course slow introductions will set everyone up for the best success.

Doug is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ready to go home! Our adoption center located at 3020 Hillegas Rd is open today from 12 - 5:30 pm. We are walk-in only and provide same day adoptions.

Thank you again to Kelley Automotive Group for kindly helping Doug the mini house panther find his furever family! 🐈‍⬛

We are very excited and grateful to be partnering with 97.3 WMEE for a new segment called Boomer's Pet of the Month, presented by our awesome friends at Nature's Way Pet Aftercare! 🐾

We are happy to share that Sno-Cap was adopted yesterday, but we always have plenty of more pets searching for their loving, fur-ever homes!

Where Are They Wednesday? The story of a rescued dog and cat becoming instant best friends ❤️

“This is Odo (cat) and Browler (dog). We got Odo about 7 years ago, and Browler this January, both from FWACC! The literal instant Browler came home, Odo decided that they are best friends, immediately cuddling him and purring, which Browler didn’t seem to mind at all!

Odo is unfortunately battling cancer, and Browler has a couple of disabilities, including deafness, but that doesn’t stop this dynamic duo from being the best brothers each other could ask for. They are happy, friendly with their other cat siblings, and are so, so loved.

My brother and I are so grateful to FWACC for giving us some of our best friends! 🥰”

What a heartwarming update! We are very grateful for Odo and Browler’s family for giving them such a wonderful, loving and safe home. These stories make our hard days worth it!

We urgently need your help!

We already have 250 cats and kittens in foster homes, while vulnerable kittens who need our help keep arriving daily. As an open intake/access animal shelter, we cannot say 'no' to animals who come to us from Allen County.

Our amazing foster families have been stepping in to take in bottle babies, moms with babies, underweight kittens, sick kittens, kittens who are weaning from milk, or fearful kittens who need more socializing. Our current approved foster homes are almost filled up, so we are reaching out for help to see if anyone else is ready to become a lifesaving foster parent.

Because of generous donors, we are able to provide all of the supplies to you for FREE, you just need to supply the love and care these kittens need to thrive. ❤ If you are ready to take the next step and apply to become a foster, you can learn more about what it all entails and submit your application found right on our website: https://www.cityoffortwayne.in.gov/236/Foster

If you are not able to foster at this time, another way you can make a huge impact is by purchasing items from our foster wish list on Amazon that you can browse through here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2GVRRCITHKCH6?leftNavSection=Reorder&ref_=abls_lnv_rl and ship to:

Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control
Attn: Foster Dept.
3020 Hillegas Rd
Fort Wayne, IN

Every donated item directly helps save kitten lives and supports the amazing foster families generously caring for them in their homes.

If you are not able to foster or donate at this time, we understand. We would appreciate support in the form interacting with this post to help spread the word!

Thank you for helping us care for Allen County's tiniest and most vulnerable pets. 🐾🐱❤️
