Winston had his first big training outing today. He enjoyed a fun Christmas in July trip to get supplies for our Ornament Appeal at Hobby Lobby. He did a great job listening and enjoyed meeting new people.

If you are in the IPFW area of Hobson Rd/Stellhorn Rd please be on the look out for a small brown dachshund/ chihuahua mix dog. The owner, the daughter of veterans rescued the dog two weeks ago and was taking it for a walk in the “College Park Office Complex” early Friday morning when it got spooked and broke free. The dog is new up the area, and skittish so please do not chase him.

As the fireworks light up the sky tonight… 🎆

We know they sound different to a combat veteran. The booms that mean celebration to some can mean memories to others.

If tonight is hard for you, you are not alone. Reach out. Breathe. Step inside if you need to. Your service earned you the right to take care of yourself too.

And if you're standing next to a veteran tonight — check in. A quiet "how are you doing?" means more than you know.

Even our four-legged team members are celebrating today. 🐾🇺🇸

Our Paws and Effect crew (Dooly, Cooper, and Winston) send their wagging-tail greetings to the veterans we love and serve. Therapy dogs don't set off fireworks — but they know something about freedom too: the freedom to feel safe, to trust again, to heal.

This Independence Day, we're grateful for every veteran who fought for our freedom — and for every pup helping them reclaim their peace.
