The Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA) will be opening its Public Housing Waiting Lists for four-and five-bedroom units on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 8:00 AM.

Applications will be accepted online on the digital application portal (Rent Café) which is accessible through our website’s home page at www.fwha.org.

Our YouthBuild Academy, Fort Wayne students recently participated in a hands-on budgeting activity with a representative from MidWest America Federal Credit Union!

They explored real-life expenses like childcare, healthcare, housing, transportation, and more in this workshop. This allowed our students to get a clearer picture of what it truly costs to live independently.

As they worked through different career scenarios, many realized how rising costs and inflation can impact their choices and limit certain wants. This eye-opening experience highlighted the importance of financial discipline, smart decision-making, and sometimes having to say “no” in order to stay on track.

A valuable lesson in preparing our youth for the real world! Thank you, MWAFCU!💰💡

Our YouthBuild Academy, Fort Wayne students hit Bells Skating Rink for a little celebration, connection, and well-earned fun.

Thanks to the generous support of our friends at Fort Financial Credit Union, this field trip gave our students a chance to step away from the hard work, enjoy time together, and celebrate the progress they’ve made through the program.

Moments like this matter. They build community, create memories, and remind our young people that their effort deserves to be recognized.

Our YouthBuild Academy, Fort Wayne students and staff had the opportunity to volunteer with Downtown Fort Wayne, helping clean up a homeless encampment.

This experience allowed our students to see life from a different perspective. Oftentimes, we don’t realize how privileged we actually are and the importance of showing concern for others.

When we think about homelessness, we don’t always consider how it affects our own hometown. Many of us are busy with our daily lives and don’t take the time to notice. This was a meaningful opportunity for our youth to slow down, give back, and make a positive impact in our community and the City of Fort Wayne.

This outing gives them a chance to connect with one another, have some fun, and unwind after all of their hard work. We appreciate the significant contributions made on behalf of Foundations For Success and Fort Wayne Housing Authority!

The Fort Wayne Housing Authority has a new CEO & Executive Director!

The Board of Commissioners has appointed Dana Christian as CEO and Executive Director, effective immediately.

A Detroit native and longtime FWHA leader in Real Estate Development, Dana has helped drive key priorities for residents, including the completion of Hillcrest Commons, our 24-unit permanent supportive housing community in southeast Fort Wayne.

We’re excited to welcome her to the community and looking forward to the momentum ahead!

Fort Wayne Housing Authority is proud to host a FREE HUD-Certified Homebuyer Education Class!

🏡 Saturday, May 16th, 2026
⏰ 9am to 5pm
📍7315 S Hanna St, Fort Wayne, IN 46816.

This class is designed to equip individuals and families with the knowledge needed to navigate the homebuying journey with greater confidence, from budgeting and credit to loan qualification, first-time homebuyer programs, and down payment assistance opportunities. Participants will also receive a HUD-approved certificate of completion.

Doors open at 8:30am and lunch is included.
Class will be taught in English and Burmese.

Our YouthBuild students were locked in, competing, and having a great time together at our McCormick site! We kept the energy up with some pizza and gave everyone a chance to relax, bond, and build connections outside the classroom.

Moments like these are what make our community stronger teamwork, laughter, and a little friendly competition! 🍕🎮🎉

We will have our next YouthBuild orientation on April 7th at 11am located at 2609 Fairfield Ave.
