Congratulations to Mary Ann Mings—our 2025 Dignity Award individual recipient—and Mervin Koehlinger on receiving the prestigious Maxine Rippe Award!

📣Mervin Koehlinger and Mary Ann Mings have been named the 2026 recipients of The Lutheran Foundation’s Maxine Rippe Award, honoring individuals whose service reflects Christian compassion in action.

❤️ Mary Ann Mings serves as Minister of Outreach at Broadway Christian Church and Director of the Inasmuch Ministry and has transformed lives in Fort Wayne—helping 100+ individuals secure housing, supporting thousands in crisis, and leading a ministry that serves over 200 people weekly. Through Forgotten Stones initiative, she continues to break cycles of poverty and build pathways to stability and hope by connecting individuals experiencing homelessness, many of whom have income, with affordable housing. Her work with Circles of Allen County equips individuals with financial, social, and life skills to achieve stability and independence.

Merv Koehlinger, a dedicated volunteer and board member with Worship Anew, exemplifies quiet leadership. He consistently goes above and beyond by giving his time, talents, and expertise to advance the organization’s mission of supporting aging adults. From producing broadcasts and ensuring accessibility to supporting donors and serving the broader community. Merv's ongoing commitment — including regular Red Cross platelet donations, volunteering with his church, and supporting local programs, including driving for Concordia Lutheran High School. — reflects a lifetime of service.

🌟 Congratulations to both recipients for their inspiring dedication to making Allen County a more compassionate and caring community!

One of Healthways Alliance's 2025 Dignity Award recipients, NeighborLink Fort Wayne, was in the news this week. Just doing what they do—caring for people. Kudos!

NeighborLink stepped in after a stolen lawnmower spiraled into a violation from the city.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for commemorating the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. May we be mindful and grateful today for the men and women who paid the ultimate price. Their sacrifice was for our freedom.

God created us to be whole in mind, body, and spirit. Because worldly stresses can harm all three, Healthways Alliance has launched a new initiative that cares for the whole you. Our free Community Spiritual Gatherings meet at noon on the 4th Tuesday of each month, facilitated by Peggy Hayes, Spiritual Wellness Coordinator/CHW Trainer.

Discussion topics will focus on how faith supports your overall health, ways to grow spiritually stronger, and how that brings peace during times of stress or illness.

Our next gathering is on Tuesday, May 26 and you are welcome to bring your own lunch. See flyer for future dates and contact information. Join us, and let's grow together!
