I must congratulate my daughter Pamela Simonson Parker for her extraordinary work as the Co-Founder of CAAPA - Coalition for African Americans in the Performing Arts.
The annual CAAPA C.A.M.P. began today with 80 enrolled campers, 20 staff, and 25 volunteers. I stopped in earlier today to find, once again, it was amazing! Kudos Pamela and the entire team! 👏🏽👏🏽🎶👏🏽🎶👏🏽🎶
When she and her brother Victor founded CAAPA twenty-one years ago in support of Black Classical Musicians and youth, one of the goals in “giving back to the community “, was to provide a robust arts education, scholarship, and camping experience for underprivileged young people. Each year the camp has grown in so many ways. At the pace the camp has gained in popularity, she will eventually grow out of the CAAPA Cultural Center - CCC in Fort Washington, Maryland.
