It's GivingTuesday and we have exciting news! 🎉 🎉🎉

Our Outer Banks national parks are special places that bring our local community and visitors together to learn, reflect, and create new memories year after year. Our mission is to protect and enhance these beautiful places, now and for future generations.

And we can’t do that without you!

Today, our goal is to raise $25,000 in 24 hours to support our parks in inspiring the next generation through projects like Pathways to Your National Parks, which will make the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse more accessible and family friendly with a new multi-use path from Highway 12 to the lighthouse, as well as a new restroom and shower facility that will create an even better experience for locals and visitors at the beaches surrounding the old lighthouse site and First Jetty in Buxton.

We're excited to share that the National Park Foundation recently announced 41 park partner organizations who've received a Strong Parks, Strong Communities grant, including Eastern National and Western National Parks Association, the two largest nonprofit cooperating associations who support a combined total of 241 national parks across the country. 🏞

This grant will enable Eastern National and Western National Parks Association to identify gaps and opportunities to incorporate justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging into our internal operations, partner relations, and service delivery. We are excited to share that the El Portal Revitalization Team was recognized with a Regional Foresters Award from the U.S. Forest Service - El Yunque National Forest. Eastern National is proud to be a part of this revitalization! We are especially proud of the exceptional work of Assistant Regional Manager Taymi and her team. Over the years they have been cornerstones to the success of connecting the public to El Yunque. We look forward to continuing our work with the Forest Service as we help move El Portal into the future! 🏞🌲

Happy 106th birthday National Park Service! 🎉🏞🎂

Happy birthday National Park Service! 🎉🏞🎂 On this day in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic Act, creating the National Park Service. Today, more than 400 national parks preserve our nation's treasures, wildlife, and history for us and future generations to learn about and explore.
