Eastern National

Eastern National Eastern National Eastern National was founded by National Park Service rangers in 1947 at Gettysburg National Military Park.
(1)

It was to be a cooperating association that would serve a network of individual parks that could not sustain their own cooperating association. With only $147, Eastern National published its first title, Abraham Lincoln in His Own Work and That of His Contemporaries. It was developed and sold at Eastern National’s first agency, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site.

It's GivingTuesday and we have exciting news! πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Our Outer Banks national parks are special places that bring our local community and visitors together to learn, reflect, and create new memories year after year. Our mission is to protect and enhance these beautiful places, now and for future generations.

And we can’t do that without you!

Today, our goal is to raise $25,000 in 24 hours to support our parks in inspiring the next generation through projects like Pathways to Your National Parks, which will make the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse more accessible and family friendly with a new multi-use path from Highway 12 to the lighthouse, as well as a new restroom and shower facility that will create an even better experience for locals and visitors at the beaches surrounding the old lighthouse site and First Jetty in Buxton.

Our friends at REAL Watersports, Sysco, and Atlantic Union Bank on Hatteras Island have issued a fundraising challenge:

They've teamed up to match your donation TODAY ONLY until we reach our goal!

That means your gift doubles in impact! Every gift, regardless of size, helps us and our parks support and inspire young people - and those young at heart - who live in our local community and come from around the world to visit these incredible places.

To make your gift today, click the link below! β¬‡οΈπŸŽ

We truly can't thank you enough for being a part of our Outer Banks Forever community and for supporting our Outer Banks national parks!

We're excited to share that the National Park Foundation recently announced 41 park partner organizations who've received a Strong Parks, Strong Communities grant, including Eastern National and Western National Parks Association, the two largest nonprofit cooperating associations who support a combined total of 241 national parks across the country. 🏞

This grant will enable Eastern National and Western National Parks Association to identify gaps and opportunities to incorporate justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging into our internal operations, partner relations, and service delivery. Happy 106th birthday National Park Service! πŸŽ‰πŸžπŸŽ‚

Happy birthday National Park Service! πŸŽ‰πŸžπŸŽ‚ On this day in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic Act, creating the National Park Service. Today, more than 400 national parks preserve our nation's treasures, wildlife, and history for us and future generations to learn about and explore.

To honor their 106th birthday, we want to hear about the "wow" moments you've experienced while visiting these national treasures. Tell us about your favorite park memories in the comments!
