💚 In the sunshine AND the storms, one of our favorite partners to have on speed dial is Publix!

When United Way Emerald Coast reached out for food and water to support local hurricane recovery efforts, Publix stepped up without hesitation.

Thanks to their generosity, much-needed water was delivered to Walton County Emergency Management by our Board Member (and Publix Super Market at The Shoppes at Freeport Store Manager), Thomas. A huge THANK YOU to these teams for working around the clock to keep our neighbors safe!

Publix’s commitment goes far beyond disaster response. Their incredible investment in United Way strengthens communities here on the Emerald Coast and across their footprint all year long.

This is the power of partnership! Connecting resources, meeting needs, and showing up for our community when it matters most. 💚

STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL

The City of Fort Walton Beach is contracting with DRC Emergency Services to clean up debris from Hurricane Isaias.

Crews are expected to begin work mid-week. To help facilitate the cleanup process, we have the following guidelines.

✅We accept clean vegetative debris (trees, limbs, etc), and storm-related construction debris (fences, docks, etc) 📌PLEASE USE SEPARATE PILES FOR EACH📌
✅Pile storm debris on the curbside, well away from hydrants, mailboxes, or above-ground utility boxes.
✅Pile debris loose; DO NOT PUT DEBRIS IN BAGS
✅No hazardous waste or non-organic material

You do not need to schedule a storm debris pickup. Simply place it at the curb and crews will remove it as they work through their routes.

DRC will make several passes through neighborhoods over the next two to three weeks to ensure that all the debris is collected.

During this time, the city’s regular yard waste collection service will be suspended.

📌PLEASE NOTE: The City is contracting with DRC for this cleanup service. No DRC employee or subcontractor will ask you for payment. If you have any questions, please contact the Fort Walton Beach Sanitation Division at 850-833-9655.

💙 Just breathe. But don’t let your guard down yet.

We know it’s been a long, stressful day. While Hurricane Isaias has made landfall, dangerous conditions remain. Please stay sheltered, avoid unnecessary travel, and remember that a temporary break in the winds does NOT mean the storm is over.

Tomorrow, as conditions allow, our community will begin assessing the impacts and taking the next steps together.

For tonight, focus on staying safe, taking care of your loved ones, and getting some rest if you can.
