Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin, a Special Tactics combat controller, was killed Tuesday when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan.

Our November meeting was a unique opportunity to meet and talk with five of our military spouses; Erika Dertien, Melissa Sovereign Conley, Brooke Pritchard Edwards, Holly McCurter and Vanessa Colon. Each and every one of these ladies is amazing and humble. We talked about the joys and challenges of living the military life. No matter where they go, other military families are there to hold each other up. All are proud to be a part of our community

Their children are as resilient as they are. Schooling credits are sometimes lost in the move. Even more challenging is the cost and process for transferring their certifications and licensing as they move into and out of our state. We as a community, state and nation really need to work on these.

Thank you all for sharing a glimpse into your lives and for enriching ours.
