As spring is approaching please visit your local middle and high school FFA programs for all your spring planting needs. These students have been working hard in their school greenhouses getting ready for the Spring Plant Sale Fundraisers. Sales usually take place around the school’s spring break but reach out to the FFA advisor or school directly for specific days and times.

🌾 The Georgia Young Farmers Association is proud to announce our 2025 Farm Family of the Year regional winners! 🌾

These incredible families represent the heart of Georgia agriculture—hard work, innovation, and community leadership:

🔹 North Region: Christopher & Sally Kerce – Chattooga County
🔹 Central Region: Arren & Taylor Moses – Toombs County
🔹 South Region: Michael & Leanne Chafin – Colquitt County

Over the next few months, a panel of judges will visit each farm to learn more about these operations and the families behind them. The State Farm Family of the Year will be revealed at the 2026 GYFA Convention in January at Jekyll Island!

Congratulations to TJ Elder Middle and advisor Matthew Shelton on the ribbon cutting of their new hydroponic system. Students did a great job explaining how the system works and talking visitors through their daily tasks. The program is currently growing Butter-Cruch lettuce and selling their harvest to teachers and members in the local community.
