Also in attendance was Past Club and Past District President Cindy Long, along with fellow Exchangites from throughout the region.

The D-Day operation of June 6, 1944 brought together the land, air, and sea forces of the allied armies in what became the largest amphibious invasion in military history. D-Day put the Allies on a decisive path toward victory in Europe. Beginning with the Normandy beaches, they pushed back against Axis forces until Germany was forced to surrender less than a year later. These achievements were not accomplished without tremendous sacrifice, however, as the Normandy invasion resulted in over 6,000 American casualties.

Across the country, the National Park Service helps tell the story of our nation during World War II. From Pearl Harbor to U-boats in the Atlantic, to D-Day, V-E Day, and the war's atomic end; explore the stories of America's WWII experience in a national park. Every Exchange Club scholarship winner has someone standing behind them. A parent. A guardian. A family who believed in them before we did.

Beginning with our 2026 scholarship winners in Omaha, the National Exchange Club is making sure those families have a permanent seat at our table.

Each scholarship winner’s parents or guardians (up to two per student) will receive a full year of dues at any Exchange Club of their choice. Upon graduation, the student receives the same: one full year of dues at any club they decide to call home.

This is more than a benefit. It is an invitation. For more than a century, our movement has lived in the everyday acts of neighbors who choose to show up for one another. The families who raised these scholarship winners already understand that instinctively. Now they have a place to live it out.

A thank you to South Carolina District President Michael Gaston, who brought this idea forward and gave us a thoughtful answer to a question we have been asking ourselves for a long time: how do we keep our winning students and their families in the Exchange family for life.

Welcome home.
