We were doubly blessed today by having ARCOM medical students and UAFS nursing students in our emergency day shelter together this morning. These students and their instructors are providing much needed services. We are grateful to have these students and know they will be tremendous medical professionals when they graduate their programs.

Thank you to the Fort Smith Public Library for once again hosting their annual water drive for Next Step. With these extreme temperatures, we have been giving out a lot of water, so these donations are very timely. Many thanks❤️

Thank you Joe!

A big thank you to Joe with River Valley Fencing for repairing and securing the stair railing at Esther House, part of The Next Step Homeless Services. This important repair helped make the home safer for everyone who lives there. We truly appreciate Joe for generously sharing his time and skills to support our community. It’s amazing what we can accomplish when local businesses come together to help others! Thank you, River Valley Fencing!

We were so pleased to have UAFS nursing students and one of their instructors at our emergency day shelter today. They are so kind and helpful to the unsheltered who come into our facility. Also pictured is our shelter staff member, Floyd Hardy,holding a card signed by all the nursing students,thanking him for providing a safe and friendly environment for them while they are in our facility. Floyd does a wonderful job balancing the day to day challenges of being the first person at the door that our clients see when they arrive, handling difficult clients and also helping all of our staff feel safe while doing our jobs. Shout to Floyd!

If you have more ceramic coffee mugs than you can possibly use, we would love to put them to good use at our day shelter. We serve hot coffee every morning at breakfast and need more mugs. We will take any you would like to give a new home to at 123 N 6th St, Monday-Friday 8-3.

At our emergency day shelter we serve humans and their furry companions too. These 3 friendly fur babies visited us today. We provide dry dog food and other dog supplies to our clients when we have them available. If you would like to donate bags of dry dog food, collars or leashes, please give them to one of our staff Monday- Friday 8-3 at 123 N 6th St, Fort Smith
