Parents, Players and Coaches,
10 years ago, I told a group of kids that I would be bringing a youth tackle football league to Fort Scott and I did just that. Since that time, our league has seen some very good players come and go, we’ve seen great success on and off the field of play, and we’ve given an opportunity when there was not an opportunity and I’m very proud of that. Creating this league was never easy, and at times a headache, but it’s been worth every dollar and every second to see our community and our kids be able to play under the name Fort Scott Tigers! With that said, I’ve been told that a new group of parents will begin their own league in Fort Scott this Fall. It was never my intention to run the league forever, but they did not reach out to me, instead have decided to create a all new league. My goal was that Fort Scott would have a tackle football program and with this interest from a new group of parents, I have decided to keep any confusion at a minimum and to help them during the process of building their program- Fort Scott is not big enough for 2 leagues- I will be ending this league. I’m not sure the details of their new league, but I want to wish them the best and hope they have the same success that we’ve had over the years! Look for the new Youth Tackle Football league coming to Fort Scott this Fall!
I will make sure to still be available if anything happens and this new league is not formed- we will have tackle football in our community one way or another, but until then- I ask that you do all you can to help see this new league start up and be successful as we have been.
Players then and now- let me leave you with this:
Dear Lord, the battles we go through in life,
We ask for a chance that’s fair
A chance to equal our stride
A chance to do or dare
If we should win, let it be by the code
Faith and Honor held high
If we should lose, we’ll stand by the road, and cheer as the winners go by
Day by Day, we’ll get better and better
Till we can’t be beat- WON’T BE BEAT!
Thank you to all the families, coaches, and parents that helped us along the way. I like to say to all of you, it’s been my pleasure to share this time with you and your athletes. We’ll spend the bulk of our lives learning- whether in school, on a field, at a our job, or doing whatever makes us happy. We will learn countless things that we may never use in life, but we are never taught to love what we have, we just have to hope that we do because the grass is never greener on the other side. We are never taught to make the moments last, or how to live in the moment, we just watch as they pass us by. But one of the most unfair things in life, is that we are never taught how to say Goodbye! We have to just hope we do our best in the end. I would just like to say- Thank you- it’s been one heck of a ride and one that I would do over again in heartbeat!
