Anxiety can be crippling in poverty, so this week at Core we shared what was causing anxiety in our lives and learned from David Case how to overcome it.

One of our favorite groups, the Soul Sisters, from Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene served our meal and we had some awesome volunteers in childcare! Rachel Carpenter Angie Trim Teresa Hall! Thanks to our village!

Last night was Core Friend night. What's that you ask? Well, once a month our graduates (we call it Phase 2) get together with their Core Friend (community member/volunteer) and they talk about life, about goals, and how they are progressing with it all. It's great to have someone to talk to, that advocates on your behalf and holds you accountable to your goals! It was a productive night!

Thanks to our friends at New Life Pentecostal of Fort Scott, KS for our meal and our childcare volunteers Cassi Warrender-Farmer and Anne Dare!

IT was PIZZA NIGHT!!!!! What a treat from Riggs Chiropractic - Fort Scott who provided our dinner from Papa Don's Pizza, it was so good!!! Thanks Dr. Megan Vyhlidal for coordinating this donation!

Rachel Carpenter prepared some faith-based curriculum and fun games for our CoreKids and had great help from Cassi Warrender-Farmer, Danielle Wisely, and Rebecca Goebel!

Phase 1 discussed "The theory of change", change is not easy but necessary to move out of poverty! Phase 2 had a guest speaker who also happens to be in Phase 1, Michael Hamilton. Michael has BIG PLANS as he is forming HIS OWN NON-PROFIT to help with housing in the Fort Scott area! We are so excited for the possibilities of this new resource!
