Fort Scott Bourbon County River Authority The Riverfront Project: making the Marmaton River a real asset for our community.

08/16/2023

Another grant project is complete! Fort Scott Bourbon County River Authority used their grant funds awarded last fall to complete a walking labyrinth at the Riverfront. Labyrinths are used world-wide as a way to encourage meditation and stress reduction. We are excited to see this enhancement at the Riverfront to benefit the health and well-being of our Bourbon County residents. Don't forget - applications are now being accepted for the next grant cycle and applications are due August 31!

In order to comply with emergency 911 requirements, the Fort Scott Bourbon County River Authority will name the new road along the south bank of the Marmaton River as well as the walking trail between the Marmaton and Mill Creek. The River Authority and the Riverfront Vissioning Committee welcome suggestions from the public. Proposed names may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to PO Box 901 (Fort Scott KS 66701) on or before December 1 of this year. The RIver Authority expects to make a final decision by January.
