Every part of our emblem has a meaning and tells a story of service, sacrifice, and support.

The VFW Auxiliary emblem shares the same foundation as the VFW seal: the **eight-pointed Cross of Malta**, representing the values and dedication that guide our organizations.

The emblem also features the **Great Seal of the United States**, including the American Eagle and shield, reminding us of our shared commitment to our nation and those who have served.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation.

Each Purple Heart represents a story of courage, resilience, and sacrifice. Behind every medal is a service member who answered the call to protect our freedoms, and families who have shared in that sacrifice.

On Purple Heart Day, we remember and honor all Purple Heart recipients, both past and present, and we recognize the tremendous sacrifices they have made in service to our country.

The Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration still awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
