To empower families and individuals to lift themselves to sustainable economic self-sufficiency. United Against Poverty in St.

Lucie County offers many programs to benefit the community. The Member Share Grocery Program allows eligible members (earn

enter opened. Members are afforded the dignity to select food and health products wanted/needed for their families in a setting that is similar to a traditional grocery store. An annual membership card allows members to access all services. A Department of Children and Family office for Medicaid, SNAP, and Temporary Cash Assistance Applications and status checks is housed in the facility. Volunteer training opportunities program for entry level experience in customer service, inventory control, merchandising, non-profit outreach, resource development and more. Community Service volunteer site. Success Training for Employment Program (STEP) helps members develop necessary skills for achieving and sustaining success in the workplace. Emotional Intelligence Training provides participants with empowering skills they need to better manage their personal and professional relationships. Crisis Stabilization Program helps families who have hit rock bottom from slipping further into poverty.

We were honored to have our Executive Director, Sean Howald, throw the ceremonial first pitch at both games, and our Development Coordinator, Connor Stottlemire, perform the National Anthem during Mets Jersey Night. We were also proud to have the entire United Against Poverty – St. Lucie County team represented at both events.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, United Against Poverty (UP) in St. Lucie County will proudly present its 3rd Annual Lifting UP Lives Celebration presented by A & G CONCRETE POOLS, INC.. This year’s theme, A Million Dreams, draws inspiration from The Greatest Showman, inviting guests to step into the magic and wonder of the golden age of the Big Top for an unforgettable evening.

Guests will be welcomed into a vibrant atmosphere featuring a lively cocktail reception, elegant dining, and captivating entertainment, along with both live and silent auctions. Throughout the evening, powerful success stories will take center stage, showcasing the life-changing impact of our programs and the resilience of those we serve.

This extraordinary night is dedicated to uplifting the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community. Proceeds from the celebration will support United Against Poverty’s transformative initiatives, including the Member Share Grocery Program (MSGP), a dignified food and household assistance program; the Success Training Employment Program (STEP); and Crisis Stabilization services—helping individuals and families take center stage in their own journey toward self-sufficiency.

On Friday we celebrated the accomplishments of another incredible class of graduates from United Against Poverty's Success Training Employment Program (STEP)! These individuals have dedicated themselves to personal growth, workforce development, financial literacy, and building a brighter future. We are proud of their hard work, determination, and commitment to achieving their goals.

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Sue Kotcamp, author of The Power of Being Present and dedicated volunteer, for sharing her inspiring words of encouragement and wisdom with our graduates. Your support and willingness to invest in others made this celebration even more meaningful.
