This weekend is ! Yes, the ladies are often drabber than the males, and historically this had led birders, ornithologists, and birdtographers to focus on the males. They assumed the females didn't sing as much and were less interesting. Scientists now know that many female birds sing just as much as the males, and they often travel farther on migration than the males do. Let's give the ladies some appreciation this weekend! If it is injured or ill, get it to a wildlife rehabber immediately. If you “don’t see parents,” put it back where you found it and leave it alone! The parents won’t return with you hanging around.
