We all respect the sensitivity of this matter and have utmost concern for all those that have loved ones to be remembered. We do however have to be mindful of our environment and the fact that this area is a public amenity, paid for by all taxpayers.

Together, we can devise a plan to share the memories of those we love in another way.

Jetty Memorial Plaque & Flower Removal
Beginning the week of July 14, 2025, the City of Fort Pierce will begin the careful removal of all memorial plaques and flowers that have been placed on the rocks at Jetty Linear Park and the Jetty Fishing Pier to comply with an agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and protect the environment.

This process is expected to take approximately one week.

The City of Fort Pierce is committed to handling this matter with compassion and care. Every effort will be made to remove the plaques gently and respectfully. However, due to the materials used and the nature of the adhesives, some plaques may experience unintentional damage during removal.

The public is kindly asked not to attempt to remove any plaques or flowers themselves. Doing so may result in further damage or safety risks. The City also requests that staff be allowed to complete this process without interference and asks for the community’s patience and understanding as this work is completed.

Plaques that remain intact will be available for pickup at the Public Works Facility (52 Savannah Rd.) A list of names from the plaques will be published to help identify items available for collection.

📅 July 21–22 | 🕓 4:00–6:00 PM
📞 Appointments available at 772-467-3794
📌 Final pickup deadline: August 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the City works through this process.

I received an update from our St. Lucie County Port Inlet & Beaches Department on the emergency truck haul project. As of March 13, 2025, 10,000 of the planned 95,000 cubic yards of sand have been placed on Fort Pierce Beach. Stewart Materials (Indrio Rd. mine) is ramping up production, and we expect increased sand placement in the coming days and weeks.

This project is a vital step in restoring and protecting our coastline, and I’ll continue to provide updates as progress continues.
