Our members doing great things on a daily basis.

The Fort Myers Police Department Juvenile Delinquency Interdiction (JDI) Unit was notified by a school counselor of a food shortage impacting a local family. In response, the JDI Unit collaborated with community partners at Catholic Charities Children’s Center and Community Cooperative to address the family’s immediate needs. Through these combined efforts, the family was provided with approximately one month’s worth of groceries and essential food items.

This outreach effort served not only as crisis intervention and resource assistance, but also as an opportunity to strengthen positive relationships between law enforcement, community organizations, and families in need. This collaboration reflects the ongoing commitment to prevention, support, and relationship-building within our community.

We are pleased to announce that our membership has reached a agreement with the City of Fort Myers on wages. This process took far too long and should never have reached the point where we lost valuable experience that we cannot recover. Those departures are a direct result of prolonged delays and inadequate compensation.

We are deeply thankful for every like, share, comment, and act of public support you and our community showed throughout this difficult process. Your voices and visibility made a real difference and helped keep the pressure on until we secured this agreement.

With this agreement now in place, our focus shifts forward:

• We will actively support and work with candidates in this year's elections who publicly commit to supporting competitive wages for our members.

• We will begin preparations now for the wage reopener scheduled in 2028 to ensure stronger outcomes next time.

City of Fort Myers residents: The Fort Myers Police Department is losing officers at alarming rates, creating a serious staffing crisis that threatens public safety. City leadership must act decisively now to address officer PAY and ensure we can continue to protect our community. End this black eye for our City.

Today, Jason Jones graciously welcomed our union president on his show to discuss the ongoing impasse and its negative impact on our police officers so far. We urge our elected officials to step up and direct the City Manager’s office to resolve this matter without further delay.

Fort Myers Police Officers have been asked to accept a contract well below market value, with the City of Fort Myers leadership repeatedly claiming “DeSantis might eliminate property taxes” as justification.

⚫️ That bill isn’t law yet.
⚫️ The excuse is weak.
⚫️ The City of Fort Myers has $900 million in capital improvement projects planned over the next five years.
⚫️ It’s not a question of whether they have the funds — it’s how and where they choose to spend them.

Governor Ron DeSantis the City of Fort Myers is weaponizing your proposal to avoid paying their officers market value.

Please share and tag the Governor immediately so his office can address this troubling and unfair situation.

The Fort Myers Police Department is announcing a significant development regarding the incident over the weekend in which two of our officers were struck by a vehicle driven by suspect Michaei Tion Archibald during a traffic stop. One officer sustained minor injuries and the other suffered serious injuries.

We are incredibly grateful that both officers have since been released from medical care and continue to recover.

We are also relieved to share that Michaei Tion Archibald has been taken into custody in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was located and apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service. We extend our sincere gratitude to the U.S. Marshals and to all of our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners for their outstanding collaboration and commitment throughout this search.

This violent act against our officers was unacceptable, and we are thankful that Archibald is now in custody.

Thank you to the community for your support.

🚨 SERIOUS CRASH | FORT MYERS

A Fort Myers Police Department officer has been seriously injured after being run over by a vehicle in the parking lot of 7-11 at 10510 Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.

Fort Myers Fire and Lee County EMS crews responded to the incident at 7:43 PM Saturday evening.

Initial reports indicate that the officer was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle when it intentionally ran over the officer and fled the scene.

Fire & EMS radio communications indicate that the officer sustained serious injuries meeting "Trauma Alert" criteria and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center. FMPD confirms that they are in stable condition.

Immediately following the incident, a "Be On The Lookout" (BOLO) alert was sent out to all neighboring agencies for the vehicle: a black 2019 Chevrolet Corvette bearing Florida tag DJ78TI.

The driver has been identified as Michaei Tion Archibald. Archibald has several prior arrests from 2024 for fleeing and eluding law enforcement, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, and reckless driving.

Photos of the suspect and vehicle have been attached in the comments below.

If you see Archibald or the suspect vehicle, DO NOT APPROACH. Call 911 immediately or notify SWFL Crime Stoppers.

The scene remains active at this time.
