We normally close the Pantry at 3 PM. Many of our volunteers have put in 7-8 hours of sometimes strenuous work and are tired. It's a GOOD tired, though. Today, we were finishing up about 3:30 PM, everybody else had already gone home and we were ready to lock up and go home and a lady pulled up, and I told her we were closed but would reopen on Monday. She said she couldn't get off work any earlier and needed help.
I am reminded at times like this that when Jesus had compassion for the crowd and miraculously fed the 5,000 that NOT ALL OF THEM WERE ON TIME, EITHER. We provided groceries for her, carried the food bags out to her car in the rain, smiled real big and said "God Bless you." ...and meant it. Oh, Lord, we are SO blessed!

Twelve HUNDRED families served groceries in May!
We gave out almost 33 TONS of food in May!
One in four clients made their FIRST visit to us!
They will return.
God Bless our volunteers and may God continue to bless our church family that so generously supports us financially to make this ministry possible...and we were CLOSED on the 25th.

Recently, the US Postal Service did a canned goods food drive and the Harry Chapin Food Bank received, sorted (sort of) and distributed the collections. Our Pantry received TWO of these big bins with about 1000 pounds of canned and boxed goods in each bin. Sorting and distribution at our Pantry will begin on Monday. Think this is a LOT OF FOOD??? It is, but it will all be given out in about 3 days the Pantry is open. THANK YOU, to the donors, the USPS, and to our church family who supports this ministry.

Once every month the Pantry is able to receive a nice donation of fruits, vegetables, mixed produce, dairy, and eggs from Amazon Prime through the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Today we received SIX pallets of these yellow totes filled with GOOD STUFF! Thank you to our volunteers who came in on their "day off" and sorted everything ready for distribution on Monday.

Where does all our food come from, you might ask?
Our Truck crew visits 7 grocery stores and returns with frozen meats, produce, pies, bread, cakes, dairy and eggs. It is sorted, cleaned up if needed and repackaged. "If I wouldn't eat it, it doesn't go out" is what we live by. Here's some of our story...

Every so often the Pantry must purchase some foods we consider BASIC for a healthy diet. Yellow corn and green beans are two staples. The Harry Chapin Food Bank sometimes make it possible for us to purchase these at greatly reduced (but significant to us!) prices. We go through a pallet of corn and green beans in about a month. We received a delivery today of 100 cases of corn and 100 cases of green beans at a cost of $3,455. That's what our church family donates to us for: To provide healthy foods to our neighbors in need. Look what we did: We gave out 35 TONS of food to our friends in 9 days. God has blessed us so richly and we serve Him with JOY. Consider those numbers, please....

On Wednesday, we received a BIG order of food items from the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Nine TONS of frozen meats, spaghetti, rice, canned tuna and other items were logged in. This will go a long way toward feeding hungry families in our area! THANK YOU, McGregor Baptist church family for supporting us financially. God bless you, and our wonderful clients.
