A big Fish With A Hero thank you to Capt. Chris Barron of Stray Cat Charters for helping make our Islamorada event such a memorable experience for our veterans. Chris has been fishing and guiding the Florida Keys since 1980, with decades of experience spanning Islamorada’s flats, backcountry, reefs and offshore waters. From tarpon and snook to reef and blue water fishing, his knowledge of the Keys runs deep. We’re grateful that he shared that experience, his boat and his time with our heroes. 🎣🇺🇸

Two veterans. Two days on the water. One unforgettable Florida Keys experience.

We’re proud to be sending Master Sergeant Bryson Preddy and Colonel Stacey Corn, U.S. Army (Retired) to the 13th Annual Cheeca Lodge All-American Backcountry Tournament, November 12–15 in Islamorada. Thank you to Cheeca Lodge for sponsoring two of our heroes to compete!

Anglers will compete to catch and release five iconic species: snook, redfish, bonefish, tarpon and permit.

We can’t wait to follow their adventure. 🇺🇸

Fish With A Hero Special Meeting: RSVP Required! 🇺🇸

Join us Wednesday, October 7 from 4:00–6:00 PM on the Sanibel Causeway for an afternoon of fishing, safety, great food, and even better company.

We’ve got a great lineup planned:

• Water safety class with licensed instructor, fishing guide, and Marine Corps veteran Tim Zimmerman of Rebel Fishing Alliance
• Fly fishing from shore with master caster Joe Mahler and master fisherman Doctor Dre
• A BBQ rib dinner from “SMOKIN” Jim Stone 🔥

Bring a beach chair or blanket and your tackle, fly or otherwise. If you’d like to get in the water, bring a bathing suit, towel, and dry clothes. Water immersion is completely optional!

📍 Sanibel Causeway
Take the first exit to the right after crossing the first bridge and paying the toll. You’ll see us!

A heartfelt Fish With A Hero thank you to Capt. Mark Gibson of Dauntless Fishing Charters for once again giving his time, talent and heart to our veterans in Islamorada. Mark is a lifelong angler, longtime Keys captain and a disabled U.S. Navy veteran who served 19 years, so his commitment to helping fellow servicemen and women is deeply personal. We are incredibly grateful to have had Mark on the water and on our team. We will miss him but wish him the best in his retirement! 🇺🇸🎣

A little exploring can lead to something pretty incredible.

Last Friday, two of our fly guides, Jim and Chad, headed out to explore and see what they could find. Their adventure paid off with this gorgeous tarpon!

You never know what’s waiting around the next bend. That’s what makes time on the water so special.

Today, Fish With A Hero remembers and honors one of the Veterans we lost this month, Marvin “Marv” Vosburg.

Marv was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran who served two tours of duty with the 101st Airborne Division. Among his military honors were a Combat Infantryman’s Badge with battle stars, two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and his Paratrooper Badge, which was especially meaningful to him.

We are grateful for Marv’s service, his sacrifice, and the courage he carried with him throughout his life.

Our deepest condolences go out to Marv’s family, friends, and fellow Veterans. May his memory live on, and may we never forget the price so many of our Veterans paid for our freedom.

Rest easy, Marv. 🇺🇸

Most importantly, thank you to the heroes who joined us. It’s an honor to spend time on the water, make memories, and share some great days of fishing together.
