- For our clinical patients, Lakeview Center has resumed operations and is open as of today for appointments and services.

- Adventure Series events scheduled for this weekend have been canceled.

A new chapter for Home Base Florida! 🇺🇸

After more than a decade of leadership, Armando Hernandez has been promoted to Senior Director of National Network Operations & Strategy, where he will continue supporting Florida while helping expand Home Base’s reach into Arizona, Texas and emerging regions.

Larry Whitmore, MSW, a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who joined Home Base Florida in 2023, has been promoted to Director of Home Base Florida. He will build on the strong foundation Armando helped establish and lead the continued growth of care and support for Veterans, Service Members and Military Families across the state.

We’re grateful for Armando’s lasting impact on Florida’s military community and look forward to this next chapter under Larry’s leadership as we continue our mission to heal the invisible wounds of service.

While in Pensacola for the launch of our new Warrior Health & Fitness Program, our Home Base Florida team visited Navy Region Southeast (NAS Pensacola) for a firsthand look at the Chief of Naval Air Training Human Performance Team's space at Training Wing Six.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity to learn about the team's approach to human performance as a holistic discipline – bringing together physical performance, sports medicine, psychology, cognitive performance, recovery, and readiness in an integrated approach to long-term well-being. Thank you to Captain Doug (Cricket) White and the entire team for meeting with us and sharing your vision.

Strong partnerships lead to stronger care for our Veterans and Military Families. 🇺🇸

Home Base Florida Director Larry Whitmore, MSW, recently provided a Home Base 101 & Military Culture training for clinicians and case managers for our clinical partner, David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC).

As a U.S. Air Force Veteran and Home Base Florida Clinical Program Manager, Larry brought both his military experience and clinical knowledge to help DLC staff better understand the unique experiences, culture, and needs of the military community they serve.

David Lawrence Centers provides mental health and substance use services for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families in Southwest Florida at their onsite Home Base Florida Outpatient Clinic — at no cost to those who serve. The talk took place in their newly opened, state-of-art Diermeier Access and Integrated Care Center where Veterans in our program receive trauma focused therapy, including Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy.

Ongoing training and collaboration help strengthen that shared commitment to providing compassionate, informed care. Thank you to Larry and the entire DLC team for investing in the knowledge and understanding that helps ensure our Veterans and families receive the support they deserve. 💙

We’re grateful to U.S. Navy Veteran Darnell Johnson for sharing his story at the Copperleaf Charitable Foundation’s annual Home Base Veteran Appreciation Golf Tournament. Held each year in remembrance of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the tournament brings together Copperleaf members and Veterans for a day of camaraderie, appreciation and community while honoring those who served in the years that followed. ❤️

Darnell's journey overcoming PTSD, depression, physical pain and addiction with the help of Home Base is a powerful reminder of why the work we do matters, and how the support of a community can help change lives.

For Darnell, sharing his story is another way to continue the mission – reminding Veterans and Military Families that help is available, healing is possible and they are never alone.

Thank you, Darnell, for inspiring everyone in the room!

🏈 The Home Base Florida Fantasy Football League is officially underway!

This year's league has doubled in size and filled up quick! We now have 40 Veterans and family members across four leagues. We kicked the season off this month at our 2nd Annual Fantasy Football Draft Party Adventure Series with food and fellowship.

More than just football, this league is about connection, camaraderie and having a little fun together throughout the season. And there’s an extra incentive this year: the winners will have their names added to a trophy that will be proudly displayed in the Home Base Florida office! 🏆

Good luck to all our teams! 🏈

What a milestone for Warrior Health & Fitness in Northwest Florida! 💙

We are incredibly grateful for the hard work, leadership, and dedication of our NWFL team — especially Program Director Betsy Hart and Veteran Outreach Manager Leonard Montgomery — who helped bring our Warrior Health & Fitness Program at the University of West Florida to life.

After a year of planning and preparation, we were proud to gather with our partners, supporters, and community leaders for the formal launch of our new facility. Following a brief presentation and refreshments, guests had the opportunity to tour the gym, meet our team, and see firsthand the space where Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families will come together to focus on their health and well-being.

We are also deeply grateful to the leaders and partners who joined us to celebrate this important milestone:
• Dr. Andrew Del Gaudio, Executive Director, Office of Military
• Steve Workman, Director of Military Ministries, Olive Baptist Church
• Rebecca Matthews, Chair, UWF Board of Trustees
• Manny Diaz Jr., President, University of West Florida
• Representative Michelle Salzman
• Doug “Cricket” White, U.S. Navy

Thank you to everyone who helped make this launch possible and who continues to believe in the power of connection, community, and wellness for those who have served.

This is just the beginning. We are excited to welcome Veterans and Military Families into their new Home Base in Northwest Florida! 🇺🇸
