A very happy birthday to the organization, the people, and communities that make it all possible - Happy 175th to the Y!

June 6, marks the 175th birthday of the YMCA! On this date in 1844, George Williams founded the first YMCA in Industrial Revolution-era London to help young people like himself address the social challenges that impacted their lives. 175 years later, the Y is now in 119 countries and still empowering people to create positive change in their communities! Happy Birthday YMCA!

A few of the bill topics in House and Senate chambers included: fighting deforestation, increasing background checks for firearm sales, banning plastic near beaches, providing child abuse surveys to students, banning the death penalty and abortion, resupplying waterways with native fish, and funding to increase law enforcement training.

Seven of the 135 delegates participating recently attended the14th Florida YMCA Youth In Government Jr. Assembly, so a few got some clerking experience (and even some chairing too)!
