As nighttime temperatures drop into the 30s across Southwest Florida, our unhoused neighbors are facing dangerous conditions. Cold like this isn’t just uncomfortable—it can be life-threatening.

Mercy Works Ministries, Front Porch Revolution, Save Our Democracy, Cindy Banyai for Florida House 78, and amazing volunteers from across Southwest Florida are banding together to collect cold-weather supplies and get them directly to people who need them most.

Immediate needs:
• Blankets
• Jackets or sweaters (all sizes)
• Gloves or mittens
• Hand warmers
• Hats

Every item makes a difference. One blanket, one jacket, one pair of gloves can mean warmth, dignity, and survival through a cold night.

What you may not see are the quiet crises unfolding here in Southwest Florida.

Several hardworking local families—parents who show up every day, who pay taxes, who love their children fiercely—have suddenly lost income and stability due to harsh immigration policies and the fear now infiltrating our communities. For their safety, their identities must remain confidential, which makes public fundraising nearly impossible.

But the need is real.
Rent. Food. Gas. Medical care. Childcare. Survival.

UPDATE: thanks to our awesome community. This family was taken care of last night . We still have a need for Maseca corn flour, Manteca lard, vegetable oil, salt, flour, black pepper, powdered garlic, powdered onion, canned or boxed milk, canned/hearty soups, and kids snacks like apple sauce cups and pouches, dried fruits, yogurt pouches, etc.

🚨 All across Hendry and Okeechobee counties today, ICE raids have once again torn families apart.

Parents were taken from their children, workers were detained on their way to jobs, and entire neighborhoods have been left shaken with fear. People walking, biking, and driving through their own communities were targeted—turning everyday life into a nightmare.

This is not freedom. This is not justice.

We at Save Our Democracy are standing with these families. They need urgent support—groceries, rent help, legal defense, and the simple reassurance that their community will not abandon them.
