Current situation in Southwest Florida from the Sanibel Lighthouse to Fort Myers Beach and Pine Island. Our winter has been 4 - 6" wetter than average because of El Niño and it caused Lake Okeechobee levels to be too high. As a result, the water is being released in large quantities west and east.
