Meet Matthew Cain, one of our featured speakers for the 2026 LeadSmart conference! Matthew will be presenting on "AI Applications in the Workplace: Advancing the Speed of Change."

Matthew Cain is a Custom Solutions Sales Director at Empower, where he focuses on improving participant outcomes through investment and advice solutions across the South Region. He partners closely with consultants and registered investment advisers to address complex challenges related to retirement plan design, investment strategy, and participant longevity. Matthew brings nearly two decades of experience in defined contribution and retirement solutions. Meet Kate Hill and Eric Demirjian, who will be doing a joint presentation on "Designing the Future Workplace: Human + AI by Design for the Human-AI Superteams of Tomorrow."

Dr. Kate Hill is an executive leader, practitioner-scholar, speaker, writer, and postdoctoral research fellow for the Center for Innovation Management and Business Analytics (CIMBA) at the Florida Institute of Technology. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), people, and the future of work, with a focus on AI and HR governance, human-AI collaboration, workforce readiness, employee experience, hybrid and virtual work, workforce analytics, organizational change, and quality of work life.

Dr. Eric L. Demirjian is a research fellow for the Center for Innovation Management and Business Analytics at the Florida Institute of Technology, specializing in Superteams, artificial intelligence teaming, and artificial intelligence augmentation, innovation, and replacement. Eric has 24 years of experience in aerospace engineering, artificial intelligence, modeling and simulation, and leading teams in the creation of solutions for the defense, wine, whiskey, aerospace, intelligence, and test and evaluation industries.

Meet Dr. Shellie Hastead, one of our LeadSmart conference speakers:

Dr. Shellie Halstead has worked in human resources in the United States and Japan since 2004 including roles as HRIS coordinator, training director, and CHRO. She is currently over Strategy for the Lee County Tax Collector and teaches Human Resources in the DBA program at Florida Tech. She has her doctorate in Organizational Leadership, her SHRM-SCP, a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, and is a certified Project Management and Change Management Professional. Her interest in the fields of innovation and AI has led her to volunteer as a United States Delegate to ISO’s Technical Committee for Innovation Management Standards (ISO/TC 279) in the role of US Chair of the Technology, Terminology, and Definitions working group and as a U.S. Delegate Alternate for the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 Artificial Intelligence standard.

She is the Director of Analytics and Innovation for SHRM Florida and has served on the SHRM Southwest Florida Board as President, President-Elect, Past President, Scholarship Chair and Director of Workforce Readiness.

Mark your calendars for our July lunch meeting presented by Alan Bernstein‼📣

While a training program on workplace manners and courtesy may seem like overkill, the reality is: rudeness is an epidemic costing industries millions a year.

Indeed, what society seems to be gaining in terms of knowledge and technological advancement, it’s losing on basic social values. Bosses freely intrude on subordinates’ personal space, gossiping co-workers are the norm, and quality customer care has been forgotten. The result: an environment not conducive to getting work done, dissatisfied clients aiming for the competition, and in some cases, blatant tolerance for abuse and harassment.

To address the growing problem of incivility in the work setting, this workshop introduces the concept of civility, its importance to a company, as well as its typical causes and effects. The benefits to Civility In The Workplace are many and will pay off immensely in every aspect of your job.
