Asha Mission Children's Home

Asha Mission Children's Home Asha Mission Society is a 501(c)(3) corporation registered in the United States.

We follow the way of Jesus Christ in loving children, welcoming the outcast, and sharing the Good News of Jesus with the poor. Asha Mission Society began in 2007 with five children and two house parents in a small home in India. Since then four additional homes have opened their doors to care for children from brothels, l***r colonies and homelessness. Asha Mission provides a place of refuge and c

are to children who have not known a stable home environment. Because creating a family environment is essential, homes are kept small, so that each child receives due care and attention. By way of education, access to healthcare, a consistent source of nutrition, and spiritual guidance, the children are finding stability and opportunities for their future and their families.

Two more weeks of our quilt raffle! Jana has made a beautiful quilt as a fundraiser for our 17 kids in college (see previous post for pictures). She has known them for 15 years, ever since they first came to Asha Mission and she homeschooled them! They then joined primary school, where they had to start out in grades below their age. It took only a school year for them to excel in school and reach the top of their class. The road has not been easy, but they have worked so hard to make it to college.

Who are these kids? You may know Ramlal, one of our oldest boys, who shared about his goals and dreams back in 2017. “I came to Asha Mission in 2007. At first when I came here I felt very lonely. It was a different place, and everything looked different. Little by little, I began to feel good. I began to mingle with other children. They began to love me as their brothers. Now that I am older, I would like to lead my brothers in a good way. I have many dreams for the future. If God wants, only then will it happen. First I have to ask God for it. When I finish my studies, then I will find a job. Then I am thinking to go to my hometown. There are many people who are illiterate. I am thinking to open a school in my hometown. Many people will send their children to this school. They will learn about discipline, about modern life, and about God. Education is important for people because if they study well, they will have a better life.”

Asha Mission has encouraged each child to dream big, and they are. Ramlal is now studying nursing in college, which costs $10,000 for a 3-year program. College is out of reach for many young people in India, but with a college education, a world of opportunities opens up for our kids.

Jana’s goal for this quilt raffle is to raise $3000 for the Asha Mission college fund. Follow the link to donate! Fundraiser ends on 10/31. The winner will be announced on FB Live afterwards.

Quilt Raffle! We’re raffling off a beautiful quilt handmade by Jana - all the funds will be used to help pay for college expenses for our children!

In 2007-08 Jana helped open the doors of Asha Mission Children's Home for kids in need of a stable family setting.

In her words: We lived together in one house, and my role was homeschool teacher and caretaker.

If you know me, you know I really care about education. So many kids in India don’t have access to a full education. The fact that our kids not only finished high school but have gone on to college is quite exceptional and unusual. We always told them that if they wanted to go to college, Asha Mission would find a way to support them and make it happen. We love that they’re dreaming big by studying nursing and computing! Tuition and accommodations for one student in a three year program is $10,000, which by American standards is cheap! But multiply that by 17 students (and a growing number every year) and it’s quite a big expense.

I want to keep my word and do my part, thus - bringing two loves together - quilting and these kids.
