LOCAL WATERS – LOCAL CHARTS
Our established members and boaters in the Fort Myers
area now have an opportunity to strengthen their
navigation skills and gain a better understanding of local
waterways through our “Local Waters – Local Charts”
class. Designed especially for newer boaters and those
unfamiliar with the region, the course offers practical
instruction that can help participants feel more prepared,
more capable, and more aware on the water. And it is a
great refresher for our more seasoned folks investigating
the changes caused by the three most recent hurricanes.
Using chart #11427, participants will learn foundational
chart-reading and navigation concepts specific to the
Fort Myers area, including how to interpret the
Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). By focusing on real local
waters, the class delivers relevant, easy-to-apply
knowledge that can make boating trips safer and more
enjoyable. Students will leave with a clearer
understanding of how to read charts, identify routes, and
approach local navigation with greater confidence.
In addition to essential navigation instruction, the course
highlights area restaurants and other destinations
accessible by water, helping participants connect their
new skills to real recreational opportunities. Dividers
and course plotters are included, and the class is offered
in a convenient one-day, four-hour Saturday morning
format that makes it easy for busy boaters to attend.
For boaters looking to build practical knowledge,
improve safety, and get more enjoyment from time on
the water, “Local Waters – Local Charts” offers a
valuable introduction or refresher to navigating the Fort
Myers boating environment.
