Venmo:

Our name comes from the South African Philosophy of Ubuntu which means that a person is a person through other people. Ubuntu believes that community is a building block of society and that the basic principles of compassion, forgiveness, respect, and grace are to be the place from which we act. We are doing our best to embody the Ubuntu way and to give support to unseen communities throughout Lee County.

Soo many things tonight!

Not only was there a lavish donated spread of collards, chicken, pork, rice, and coleslaw (which went down real easy as there was nothing left!)
But we also had a fabulous reason to celebrate! Our very own Pam Mock Fairfax had a birthday today and she chose to spend it with US! Pam has been such a force of good for our community and is the Lieutenant of Ubuntu! Without her there would definitely be missed pieces and opportunity. Thank you for being you Pam! You have such a good, big heart and we couldn't do it without you. And happy birthday- hope it is the best one yet! Wishing you many more and each one better than the last! ❤️

From birthday fun and cake- to cute dogs, snack bags and a hearty meal- we touched 78 people tonight with a little fun, love and hope.

Night y'all! ❤️

We are sad. Sad because we learned a street friend died, alone in his car. We didn’t see him Monday and we hoped to see him this week…but we won’t. Our friend loved cream cheese and chive crackers, Cheetos puffs and PBJs. He was quiet and loved reading; he was only occasionally cranky and that was probably when his tooth or legs were bothering him; he stood up for us if someone else pulled our chain. He was just always there.

We are angry. Angry that people die on the street, that people die alone - that we as a community aren’t doing better at fixing the systems that allow this to happen. Every week you see our smiling faces as we share a few snacks and our hearts - we are blessed to be there. But this stuff is real.

Please stop what you’re doing and find a way to help lift others from financial, housing, employment and hunger struggles. Help others before they are on the street. It will take all of us digging in. In the meantime, we’ll be out on Monday, doing what we do ❤️

Coming together, sharing a warm meal, and handing out protein packed snack bags, fruit cups, ice pops and hard boiled eggs to 68 friends is what we look forward to on a Monday night!

Thank you, Joe, for serving up a great meal of beans and weenies over rice and cornbread — with a side of puppy hugs, of course. 🧡🐾We call that a successful evening!

Thank you all for the love and incredible support! Stay kind, folks! It feels pretty darn good. 🤗🧡

A busy night indeed, but never too busy to show up.

This evening, we served 76 friends. A big thank-you to our favorite chef, Gene, for serving up a much-loved meal of stuffed peppers that was enjoyed by all!

We appreciate the moments when we have a little extra time to sit, talk, and connect with our friends. But sometimes those conversations can be so bittersweet, especially when we meet someone new who has found themselves going through a difficult season in life.

A little conversation, some encouragement, and a reminder that they are seen. We can only hope that these difficult times are short-lived🙏🏼

We were gifted these beautiful palms, made especially for us, the sweetest way of saying “thank you.” These thoughtful little gifts mean so much. 🤗They remind us that while we may come together to serve others, the love and kindness we receive in return fills our hearts as well.

Busy night, full hearts, good food, meaningful conversations, and a whole lot of gratitude. That’s what showing up is all about. Thank you all, for your continued support!
Until next time friends, stay kind!♥️♥️♥️
