•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Posted • Spring 2020 Graduate, Luisa Rodriguez,” During my time at FGCU, I have had the privilege of serving as the President of Global Medical Brigades (GMB) and THE Big C. These organizations focus on serving the under-resourced as one big community. I have traveled to Nicaragua and Panama through GMB to provide free medical and dental healthcare to rural areas in need. These experiences, along with participating in the Honors College Immokalee Immersion Weekend, led me to begin a new outreach opportunity for FGCU students: Project Ciclovia. For the remainder of the year, I will continue to travel with a group of students to Immokalee to provide free services while making a connection with our neighbors. Furthermore, I have volunteered with Hunting For a Cure for two years and now serve as the COO of this non-profit organization. We will continue the fight to end Hunter's syndrome - a deadly and aggressive disease affecting less than 500 boys in the United States. My involvement at FGCU and through the Honors College has led me to pursue a career in medicine. My future plans include applying to medical school this summer and working in the medical field for a year after graduation!” Luisa graduated with a B.S. in Biology, Pre-Professional Concentration 🦅💙💚
