FMCOC would like to express sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the Tea With A Twist event held on April 11, 2026. Our guest speaker, Dr. Denise Khaalid, provided an inspiring message of "Gratitude With An Attitude!" The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Fort Mill Community Optimist Club Oratorical Winner, David S. Montero, pictured here is the winner of both our Club Level and Zone Level competitions.

David landed 1st place on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in Clover, South Carolina. Wishing you well David as you advance to the next level.

FMCOC had a chance to highlight “Super Students” this week at the following elementary schools: Doby’s Bridge, Flint Hill, Fort Mill, Gold Hill, King’s Town, and Orchard Park.

Each student was given a framed “Super Student” certificate and gift certificates from McDonald’s, Brewsters, and Barnes & Noble‘s.

We are very proud of the recipients. Keep up the great work. 😊

Calling all students:

2025-2026 Oratorical Topic: “The Moment I Realized I Belonged — My Definition of Community”

Who: The contest is open to contestants under the age of 19 as of October 1st of the current Optimist International contest year (October 1 – September 30) and who have not yet completed secondary school or its equivalent, including CEGEP students in Québec, Canada. There is no minimum age.

How To Enter: Interested students submit a speech on the pre-assigned topic to FMCO Oratorical Chairperson, Travis Jones via email: [email protected]

Student Deadline: Please provide a written copy of the speech by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Contest Date: Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Noon.
