This is another reason I like Charlotte Dujardin. Here is Valegro, currently the highest scoring dressage horse in the world and Olymic Gold Medal winner, out in a paddock being a horse. After the Olympics, they posted a picture of him and a buddy out in the rain and mud. I think that is so great!

And his barn name is Blueberry. How cool is that??

I had to stay in London this morning for interviews but Alan sent me this picture of Blueberry back in his favourite place which I thought you might like! Thank you for getting him home safely Alan (and Tim) and for being the greatest groom there is, alongside everyone at the yard that work so hard for Carl and I. Merry Christmas everyone x

After a lot of consideration, I am going to be closing the 'official' rescue. The boarding/training/lessons part of the barn has gotten so busy that I just don't have time to raise money for rescue horses and we are out of room to take on any more. There are several equine rescues in our area doing good work and I will still do what I have always done to help horses in need, just on a less official basis.

So...Butters and Star settled in well together in the round pen. Last night I put the two of them, Greta and Bailey together in the front left field and everybody seemed to get along fine. Little Man (Dexter) is in the paddock by the trailers hanging out with Charleston and Simon and seems to be resigned to life without mom. All is good :)

The ponies are settling down. I barely heard a peep out of them today. Simon FINALLY decided that Dexter wasn't an alien and has turned out to be a great babysitter. Star is in Derek's stall and not precisely loving life, though she loves her some soaked alfalfa cubes mixed with beet pulp. Derek is standing in the rain and was looking a tad disgruntled the last time I saw him. I am going to give it a few more days...

Looonnngggg day at the farm. Star was so eager to eat the soaked alfalfa cube/beet pulp/Empower mixture that we gave her both for breakfast and dinner that I have high hopes for her ability to gain weight. Dexter was a little less eager about the halter changing and just us in general. He is curious, but cautious. His life is going to change drastically come Monday, so I am leaving him alone for right now.

We have received two more horses into the rescue. Well, ponies. They are a 26 year old mare named Star and her 4 year old c**t, whom we have renamed Dexter. Star is very malnourished after a bout with a cough. Dexter is MAYBE 11 hands tall and isn't in physical trouble, but doesn't know much.

Long time, no write. Things are going well. Derek is a star, Leroy has a new person all to himself, Annie is just the greatest horse EVER and helping our elderly neighbor enjoy riding again, and Macy is on loan and getting FAT. We are in the process of reorganizing and gearing up for more fundraising and just plain FUN!!

Mary is helping me out with Derek. With the start of homeschool and the new lessons I have picked up, my time is REALLY stressed. I was doing well to get Derek out two or three times a week. Mary is learning to love Derek as much as I do. She is doing a really good job with him and he seems perfectly happy these days to do whatever we ask of him. If I haven't mentioned it before....I LOVE THIS HORSE!!

Annie has once again proven that she is worth her weight in gold. Over the weekend, Mr. Jones came and asked if I would help him ride again.

Just gave our newest volunteer, Lara, her first lesson in English riding. She was posting right off the bat! She is a total natural.

The Renfarm rescue horses are all doing great! Macy has a new volunteer spending time with her, Leroy has Sydney, Annie is toodling along like a champ and Derek is just a joy....except that his hair falls out every other month. He didn't get worked for a few days around our last horse show...
